1. Good One!
I especially like the Target bullseye comment.

2. Thanks
I'm still working on this format, so I pay very close attention to all the critiques -- favorable and unfavorable. Glad to hear that you liked it.

3. It's kind of chilling actually.
I think you did ok, but it's dangerous territory to be joking around in. There's a thin line between a low brow laugh, and a visit from the Secret Service, and that line moves based on the perceptions of the person viewing the video.

Granted this seems a bit of a standup routine, but a couple thoughts in the fact check department:

1. There are staffing changes the day of transition between presidents. The head of the team in charge of the president actually goes with the outgoing president, even if the Director stays. (Current director was instated in 2006, and this may be a career-ender for him)
2. The two schmucks that got in, had they been hostile, would have been limited to their bare hands, or the silverware on hand for weapons. You can be sure they were unarmed, even if they were in where they shouldn't be. I can't imagine a physical approach to the President would go unchallenged.

To me, part of 'America' as a symbol, is the president as a real, normal guy. (Or gal, someday) Someone you could bump into jogging in Washington DC, or somehow, you could finagle a way to get in near him and shake his hand, without having to pay money for influence to beg an audience with the political aristocracy. I like that. Heck, if I bumped into him somewhere, It would make my YEAR, and probably leave me in tears too. Even if it's not a realistic scenario, the idea it's possible kinda warms my heart.

Jokes about the irrational far right crazies that might threaten another's safety over their political views... That's more of a blood running cold sort of feeling.

4. Agreed
This was more a jab at Cheney than anything else. I'll keep what you said in mind. Thanks for commenting.

5. You could probably make a list.
They left so much in a shambles. FEMA, now that it's subordinate to the DHS. The CIA, with all the politicization of their mission. An EPA that couldn't fulfill it's own mission, more beholden to industrial concerns than maintaining a healthy, clean habitat... It would almost be faster to list the things they didn't break.

I very much appreciate the story of that phone call he made to Reagan. I didn't know about it. It casts so many things in the light of failure, by his own criteria.

6. Phone Call Story
I read about it in Al Franken's book, "Lie and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them."
