865 Times

That is the number of times suspected terrorists, those on actual watch lists, successfully bought guns or explosives in the good ole US of A over the past five years. Why? Because of the Terror Gap. That is the space in our law created by right wingers with celery-stalks-for-brain-stems, bed-wetting Blue Dogs, and neglectful progressives that allows those on watch lists to pass background checks when purchasing weaponry that kills. You can't get on a plane--but you can buy a freakin' explosive.

Remember, conservatives are in a corner shivering over the prospect of KSM being tried in New York, but if a member of Al Qaeda buys a cache of guns the FBI won't know about it and the any background information given when purchasing said weapons is destroyed faster than you can say Nidal Malik Hasan or Eric Rudolph. Now that seems just downright crafty!

1. Do you really think we have 865 terrorists in America?
'Suspected Terrorists' that are known, to the point we should deny them transportation, but lack the evidence to apprehend and try them for an actual crime?

Since when does a democrat espouse a complete end-run around Due Process?

What country am I in, and how do I get off this damn bus? It's like Bush is still in power, and we've adopted his sick platform. Why? What is wrong with you?

5. I watched the video. I thought the silly text below it was yours.
I see now that you just copied the whole thing from C&L.

I'm not worried about my guns, and I don't know what your problem is. My problem is that people seem to be ok with shitting all over Due Process just like Bush did, when the cause is 'convienient' to them.

Perhaps you posted this video to be critical of the opinion at C&L, but I doubt it based on your response.

A LOT of us have been banging on about this issue, since it first appeared in the middle of bush's first term.

Where were you, and why are you on Bush's side now?

2. What are the criteria for being on the terrorist list?
How do people know whether they are on it? Is the list public? Would gun sellers be given the list? I thought it was secret.

6. Maybe that's how you get on the list?

Tell me, would you feel bad if following up on this by trying to contact the White House did indeed destroy a fellow citizens right to due process? To face his accuser? The right to a fair trial? Because we're treating these people, on this list, like criminals. And they don't even know it, until they run face first into a limitation on their ability to, say for instance, move around freely.

9. Yeah, except unlike the freepers, I was saying this when the No-Fly list first came out.
Remember when Ted Kennedy was put on it? Yeah, this is really a joking matter.

Like you, the freepers LIKED the list when it inconvieniences their political opponents.

Remember when Democracy Now! did a piece on Walter Murphy, a Princeton Professor and former Marine, who was put on this list, apparently for criticizing the Bush White House? I was pissed about it then too, but of course, a freeper would rub his hands in glee that it harmed a liberal.

Like you, they don't consider the consequences until it hits home.

The list was bullshit then, it's bullshit now.

12. First they came for the liberals
But I forgave them because later on they came for the guns.

I LOVE the hypocrisy. Oh it's terrible when it happens to US, but when it happens to the freepers, fuck the CONSTITUTION.

By the way, there's a couple nice fat, over 100 rec threads in GD CRITICAL OF OBAMA for keeping this and other provisions of the so-called 'patriot act' alive. FISA wiretapping, this, all of it.

But yeah, I'm a freeper. Have a nice day.
