Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), a freshman Senator who is fighting to hold his seat in 2010, said he would support health care reform even if it cost him his job.

Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," the Colorado Democrat was asked whether he would vote in favor of the legislation even if "every piece of evidence tells you, if you support that bill you will lose your job."

"Yes," Bennet replied, succinctly.

Appointed to the seat after President Obama tapped former Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar (D) to be his Secretary of the Interior, Bennet may have a tricky reelection race. He faces a challenge from the progressive wing of his own party for the nomination, even though his state has only recently trended Democratic.

Bennet's vote on health care was at one point in time uncertain. But that was months ago. Mow the politics seem to dictate that championing reform is smarter than attacking it.

They will WIN if they ALL do that. I am convinced of this.

No Repug-Lite this year, please. It got us the Iraq War Resolution, and eight long years of Bush.

In general, Americans tend to like this kind of strength of character--even when they disagree with the person's stances.

2. Keep him in mind at election time for donating. This what I had hoped

The three holdouts would do. They should put the health care of all Americans before their own political interests. Lincoln and Landreau will probably lose their seats anyhow and Nelson may also lose regardless what he does. So they should go down fighting.

but hey, this is the most impressive thing I've heard him say since he was chosen.

Yesterday on the Senate floor was the first time I've heard the guy even speak.

5. I watched and saw him....

...even before that outstanding statement, I was impressed by this man. He is soft spoken, informed, and straight forward.

Anyone who says he/she will do what is right and not what is most beneficial to his/her position ~~ that is a person who I support.

I was totally impressed by him.
