1. Gregg kept playing the Dr. reimbursement card.
I have bc/bs, it is accepted most places. When I get a copy of
the bill, I am amazed at the discounts they get. Gregg kept
saying that Dr.'s wouldn't accept 60% as payment. They do for
bc/bs, often much less than that. They get 2 discounts on each
charge. An uninsured person is charged 100% of the charges and
an insurance company is charged maybe 50%. What is wrong with
that picture? It is disgusting. Gregg also talks about
"capping" injury awards from malpractice. This is
1/2 of 1% (0.005) of the cost of health care. Of course it
will greatly improve the profits of insurance companies and
diminish the rights of individuals who have been killed and
destroyed. How are the repugs "pro-life" again? Is
it their pro death penalty stance? maybe their pro-war or
anti-living wage policies. I forget...Like Carlin said, they
love fetuses, but after they pop out...fuck 'em. How about
" a bureaucrat between you and your Dr.?" What the
hell is the insurance guy? Honestly, there can't be that many
ignorant people....Don't they realize how much money Gregg is
being paid to kill Americans? They call this politics when
it's murder. Contract murder...

2. The shell game.....
I agree 100% with your comments, and it's a little discussed fact.

You go in W/O insurance...and you get the full bill. In fact, if they are NOT a "preferred provider", you get stuck with another pencentage of the expense on your tab.

It's just a big shell game. These insurance companies have us by the balls, and they are playing their games to sell the coverage to providers as well. They make on both ends. The medical offices have to play by their rules.

Jesus, this whole "the government beaurocrat in charge of your health care" is such a NON argument. Who is in charge of it now??

God, we are a nation of f*cking morons.

3. I believe it's because we're the only major nation that made huge profits from World War II.

American owned industrial corporations flourished as virtually the rest of Earth was nearly bombed to the Stone Age. Combined with the fear generated from the Cold War, the ensuing wealth and power from those corporations' dramatic growth gave them even greater influence over the U.S. and State governments. Former Supreme Allied Commander and President Eisenhower would later recognize this out sized corporate power; domestic threat to our democratic republic when he warned against giving the military industrial complex too much power "whether sought or unsought" in his farewell address.

A corporation's preeminent motivation; is simple, profit at any cost, if the means of profit are against the law, then break or work to change the law. This isn't to say every corporation actively works to break the law, although some do, but virtually all of them work to change the law for the sake of making more profit and at any rate, the current system of lobbying is for all practical purposes bribery; by any other name. This post WWII increased power of the corporations over "We the people's" government made breaking or changing the law either by bribery/lobbying or political intimidation via media propaganda outlets all the easier.

The corporations recognized early on that control over the American People/Workers and their government hinged on the American People not having a strong social safety net, so dividing and conquering became the order of the day. The best way to cut up the safety net would be to brainwash the American People into division by gradually associating social protections and legitimate First Amendment protected political ideology and speech with a hated enemy. Someone once said "The way you eat an elephant is one bite at a time."

That's were Joseph McCarthy's witch hunts come in. The McCarthy Era served a dual purpose of splitting off the Communists and eroding post World War national unity. While Joseph McCarthy may have been disgraced, his poison pill legacy lives on. For all practical purposes the word "socialism" was by corporate media propaganda means psychologically tied to the word "communism," to this day, many Americans couldn't tell you the difference between the two and I would bet you a dollar against a donut, that's by design. Of course the corporate supremacists and their corporate media propaganda machine are never truly satisfied, that's why, they would go on to use more dividing and conquering by demonizing the word "liberal." .

Anything the government does that empowers the American People without benefiting the corporations and oligarchs is demonized as being of that subset, either "communist," "socialist," or "liberal." Those words have been programmed in to millions of the American Peoples' subconscious minds as Pavlovian Bells. If a corporate supremacist or their corporate media propaganda machine utters the word (s), reason and logic evaporate.

Thanks for the thread, democracy1st.
