Great News TYT Fans: Most of you already know TYT was nominated for a , but it was just announced we're also nominated for a ! Please vote for TYT on both sites and see the links for more information.

Summary: Cenk slams the disgusting piece by Washington Times editor Wesley Pruden, . Among other things, he makes the point that this incident shows the simmering racial hatred of the president that many on the right (laughably) insist does not exist. What you don't see in this clip (but as Cenk explained on the show last night) is the excellent news that the Washington Times loses a ton of money each year and that they might be running into some legal trouble due to things like religious discrimination.

PS---Read the DU version of Cenk's featured post @ DailyKos yesterday:

8. How disgustingly pathetic that these racists are so fearful of a black man
And you know this guy is proud as a peacock that he hates anyone who is not white. God, I'll be so glad when that generation dies the fuck out.

13. I saw a very different message in Obama's bow.
I'm sure that he meant it as a courtesy to the Japanese emperor who actually has very little power today. But, thinking about it further, I realized that the bow sends a message to a number of countries in Asia (including Moon's Korea) that the U.S. and Japan are allies, very close allies. Obama, I believe I read, is suggesting that it is time for Japan to be permitted to rebuild a bit of its own military and assist in providing security. I may be wrong about that, but I heard something along that line. If that is so, this is a reminder to countries like China and others in the area that were invaded by the Japanese in WWII that the U.S. alliance with Japan which is so deep is not to be disregarded. The cultural memory of Japanese occupation is still alive in many Asian countries. Some countries may see the U.S. as a check on potential Japanese power. Some may see the Japanese-American alliance as a potential check on their own power. At any rate, Obama's bow, as I see it (and I haven't seen anyone else advocate my analysis) may have a very different impact on the leadership on certain Asian countries. I'm sure Obama did not intend to convey the messages that I suggest.

The Fox News types seem to lack any ability to step into the shoes of other people. They see everything through American eyes (or so they think), but other nations read events in the light of their own historical experience. We have to remember that.

17. They see everything through American eyes
They think the whole world wants to be America! They think everyone want to move here.

One of the lessons of 9/11 that they never seem to get (and is never discussed anywhere) is that the world is NOT America and doesn't want to be. It ain't the 1950's anymore. We are a pitiful ghost of the superpower we were... mainly because of the absence of the USSR....and Repug machismo. That little bow probably did more to make Asia "like" us a little more than anything the Bush Administration did for 8 years... and the Repugs are STILL trying to ruin our rep. Stupid xenophobes. The only global thinking they can muster involves slavery.

15. "Contemptuous of custom"
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 10:55 PM by AlbertCat
Like....uh....bowing to Japanese royalty?

How contemptuous of custom is wanting a lawfully and overwhelmingly elected by popular vote president to fail?

Jess askin'

This guy is still mad about hippies? What a fossil!

BTW... I wonder how many times Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin bowed to Louis XVI?
American blood? People don't pass on their blood! Is this 18th century husbandry? Does he not know about genetics? On what chromosome are these American genes?

A fossil and a moran!

21. Pruden's term "blood impulse" is extremely creepy.
It reminds me of the Nazi concept of a "race soul." Have to wonder what Pruden reads.

18. unadulterated blatant contemptable hate-mongering racism!
the "SIRED" by a Kenyan father makes it sound like Obama's just an animal, like a horse. And the attack on his white mother to dare and sleep with a Negro from Africa - speechless......

20. Politics is a dirty game
Why do I love it? I'm just glad Cenk is on our side. It really seems like the rhetoric has taken an uglier turn lately. More like out and out calling for assassination and deliberate race baiting insults. This may seem childish but how do they get away with it and we would be thrown in the clink?

A local AM station I listen to because I like talk radio has hired a couple of new jocks from out of state. Both of them are belligerent right wing agitators. I'm hearing a beat down of our Democratic Mayor every morning with his phone number being given out.

I'm pointing this out because this is a red state and sometimes you can estimate what the RNC is pushing by what Faux radio stations are talking up. "Oh, poor little Sarah Palin what did she ever do to be so picked on by the liberal media?" "They are so mean to her." "No Democratic woman has ever been judged so harshly."

Same ol' same ol'. The meaner and more nasty they become the more they protest that they are treated unfairly.

Crazy making because it is so unfair and so unjust.

22. I remember, in the 1980s, there was a corporate mantra about how the American workers
should emulate the Japanese workers (meaning, workaholic, and devoting their entire life to work).

Of course, this "emulation" did not extend to management/owners ... you know, "honor" is very big in Japan ... and when you fail or screw up, you dishonor not only yourself, but your family and your ancestors. Sometimes, the disgrace was so much that you were to commit suicide ...

How many management types signed on for that in the 1980s? And how many were bowing then?

And I would bet that the "liberal media" was making sure that any Republican who was bowing to the emperor was NOT on film ...
