If you’ve ever listened to a Republican-stacked talking head show, you probably think that scientists are evenly split about whether or not global climate change is real. And while they’ve been successful at making this point over and over again, the truth is that there is no debate in the scientific community. Human beings are responsible for climate change and scientists know that. So how did corporate America and the GOP convince us all that this was in doubt? Through decades of crafty public relations and by using their echo chambers, they’ve made Nobel prize-winning scientists look like mental patients. Mike Papantonio talks about how this shift occurred with Jim Hoggan, author of the new book Climate Cover-Up.

2. Pap DOES rule! :)
This is an excellent interview and a real eye-opener to what is really happening behind the scenes of the (largely fake) climate "debate." Hoggan has worked in the Public Relations field for years and discusses how high-powered interests are hiring PR firms to propagandize the public in very sophisticated ways.

I'm sure climate change is only one of the issues this tactic is being used.

I've gotta read the book...

3. As soon as a new high temperature record is set in a year or two the public will be back on board

All they can do is slow things down but with the La Nina gone and and El Nino now in play, NASA is predicting a new record. When that occurs the topic will "Heat Up" again (no pun intended) and it will be harder and harder for them to keep making their case.

4. Here's an excellent example of these tactics in action...
Fox News falsely claimed EPA officials "questioned the science behind global warming policy"

Fox News anchor Alisyn Camerota falsely claimed that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lawyers Laurie Williams and Allan Zabel "questioned the science behind global warming policy" in a YouTube video that is critical of cap-and-trade proposals, and Fox News reporter William La Jeunesse suggested that the EPA's demand that the lawyers take down and edit the video to remove some of the references to the EPA violates President Obama's vow "to take the politics out of science." In fact, in the video, Williams and Zabel affirmed the scientific case for action against global warming and called for "carbon fees" with rebates to address the problem.
