10. Agreed. One step in the right direction would be helping TYT beat Limbaugh in the Podcast Awards...
Edited on Sun Nov-15-09 05:05 AM by ihavenobias
ATTENTION: Help TYT Beat Rush Limbaugh And Libertarians!

All you need to know about how we can help TYT win a 2009 Podcast Award in the Political category. Yes, we're really going up against Rush Limbaugh and a libertarian show, so don't let them win!

1. Go to www.podcastawards.com to vote. Just look for the category titled 'Political' on the lower right side of the page (they're listed in alphabetical order) and click the circle next to 'The Young Turks'.

2. Scroll down and put in your name and email address under 'Your Details', click the 'Listener' circle and then click 'Submit' over to the right.

3. Check your email, open the message from podcastawards.com and follow the directions stated in email to verify vote.

Remember, voting began Friday, November 13th and it ends November 30th. You can vote once a day EVERY day during the voting period.

3. Can anybody think of an instance where Bush worked with the Democrats?
To Republicans, bipartisanship is "do it our way". Compromise is "you don't oppose us and we won't rub it in your face when we win". Do these Republiturds remember the last administration at all? Were they asleep for 8 years?

12. There was NCLB...
And if anything should stand as an object lesson in the perils of compromising with Republicans, it's NCLB.

6. Nothing buy hypocrisy and lies in that Scarborough clip
First, Obama's been reaching out to the (R)s more than he's reaching out to his own base, the liberals and progressives who put him in office. And Cenk is exactly spot on: Obama reaches out to the (R)s, they slap his hand away and say NO!; asks the (R)s what it'll take to create a bipartisan compromise, their answer is "your complete political failure." And then to say Obama doesn't have enough pro-business interests around him?!? WTF? It's not that he's too liberal, he's not liberal enough!

It's been said before, but what Obama really ought to do, is freeze out (R) opposition, just as they did to the (D)s for 8 years, and go forward with the policies he campaigned on, or better yet, those supported by his liberal base: Single Payer/ Medicare "E" for everyone; Draw down troop levels in Afghaninam and Iraq; shift gov't subsidies from coal, oil and nuclear industries to solar, wind and geothermal; endorse Sanders' legislation to break down "too big to fail" firms; and create new taxable industries while lowering the adult prison population by decriminalizing, legalizing, regulating and taxing marijuana, hemp and prostitution....

Seriously, if the (D)s have control of the House, the Senate and the White House, but still can't get comprehensive health care reform passed, wtf are they gonna do if they lose their majority in 2010? Ab-so-lute-ly Nothing! ...time for a drink...

Just after Obama was elected Boehner said that the repubicans would do everything possible to make sure he would fail. I've been searching for a video clip and/or transcript of his reaction but can't find it. Does anybody remember that comment? If so, do you know who was interviewing him and on which channel?

16. I don't recall that comment, but in the same vein
I've been looking for a similar quote I remember hearing after the (D)s took over the House and Senate majorities in 2006. I thought it was either Lott or Delay, but whoever it was made the explicit point that the (R) strategy from that point on was to obstruct every (D) policy they could. My searches keep coming up with Lott's saying GOP obstruction could work or fail, but that's not the quote I recall. At the time it sounded pretty damning, and now I can't find it...

It's about time someone pointed this shit out.

And why would ANYONE reach out to a FILTHY Republican, anyway? They are not deserving of the slightest bit of cordiality or consideration by the Obama Administration. Birthers and deathers? Obama should reach out to birthers and deathers?

For me this is actually one of the most troubling things about President Obama-that he has been too considerate of Republicans.

Fuck that noise!

That's how the GOP treated Democrats while they were in power.
