10. 43,000 soldiers already listed as medically unfit

As of last year, more than 43,000 soldiers already listed as medically unfit to be deployed were deployed anyway. We have a situation right now in Iraq where 12 percent of combat troops in Iraq, and then over in Afghanistan 17 percent of combat troops in Afghanistan, are already on psychotropic meds to help them sleep at night and because they have PTSD and severe depression.

The Army faces a severe shortage of officers who hold the rank of major, as Hasan does, and that shortage is particularly acute in some medical branches. The Army this year is short about 2,000 majors needed to fill slots created as the service has grown in recent years, according to Army data. In the field of medical doctors, the Army lacks about 15 percent of the majors it needs, the data show.

6. As i was listening to this i got a call from the democratic party asking for money.

I told them i will not give another dime to anyone until we are out of the wars and have health care passed with a very strong public option. This is good news and I just hope it pans out. There is a lot to get done in a short amount of time and I believe Obama will make sure that both of these are taken care of. I really wish he would give up on working with the other side (great idea but not working).

is en route to Asia...for an extended stay...The dorks in Congress and the Hawks in their regalia are gonna have to chill for a few. Outstanding move, sir. Give those boys a sec to rethink their priorities...and our country's well being.
Troop increase cannot be The Strategy...it may need to be a limited, non-combat support role within a collective (read: NATO/UN/Regional Leadership...et al) effort to promote a legitimate gov't... which will certainly take a mammoth effort. That also means that someone's going to wind up pissing on some 'in the web' folk...(and his brother(s).
But, just like the Lion woke up from the stupor in that field of Poppies in the Wizard of Oz "...hmmm, unusual weather we're having here! ..." we, too need to wake up to the realities of what is really driving that conflict, and the implications those activities have on our country. It's, at the most basic level, just bad policy to try and win over a man against his will. Oh, how we love to reflect and dare, flaunt our "Founding Fathers" wisdom, well...as Benjamin Franklin once wrote, “A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still.”......The indigenous population will whip our stupid, history forsaking, blow the shit out of everything, asses...yet again. It's just a matter of when, and how much it will cost for us to come to terms with a very stark reality.
