In his departure statement, Dobbs -- who previously mulled a run for governor of New Jersey -- seemed to hint at a possible run for elected office. "Some leaders in media, politics, and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem-solving," he said. "At this point, I am considering a number of options," he continued, proceeding to lay out his view of "the major issues of our time." Efforts need to be made to break the gridlock of "partisanship and ideology," Dobbs explained, adding, "I'll be working diligently to change that." "I thank you and may God bless you," he concluded.

mentally wrong with him. Does anyone remember during the bush years he did make a modicum of sense. Then he went off the rails again.

3. IF he does decide to go into politics......
how much you wanna bet this "independent" will run as a Republican? I doubt he will run though, I see him just going over to Fox like Beck did.

6. I think Fox is going to try to start a hard-right politics channel

to try to split their 'neus' from their 'politics' but in the end, they'll cannibalize their own ratings because no one new is going to be watching

27. "Go beyond his role here at CNN"
I like that quote. I don't think that they meant that his role was the issue, but I bet they put a big emphasis on the "beyond CNN" aspect of it. Has anybody started taking bets on whether he will move to Fox?

he seems to still act like he's Spartacus, but he reminds me more of Eddy Haskell. Weasel. It looks like the "so called Dobbsian Democrats" (so-called only by Dobbs hisself) aren't buying.

31. Afghan yes, but I don't think so with Iraq
In fact, he was one of the first (and few) conservatives to hit the administration hard after it was determined that Iraq never had WMDs. The rest (Fox News) tried to rejustify.

I'm not a fan of the guy, I'm just pointing this out.

32. Three things I will miss about Lou

1) He hammered Bush and the Rep controlled congress on their fiscal irresponsibility

2) Unlike other conservatives who tried to re-justify the Iraq war after it was proven that Saddam didn't have WMDs, he laid into the administration

3) He would never shut up about how big American corporations were sending our jobs overseas.

The rest of him can kiss my a$$.

26. CNN has announced a replacement....
LOS ANGELES (Reuters)

CNN reporter John King will replace controversial departing host Lou Dobbs in a new weeknight political program on the 24-hour cable news network, CNN said on Thursday.

SNIP

King's new show will start early in 2010, Jonathan Klein, president of CNN/US said in a statement. CNN is a unit of Time Warner Inc.

Klein said the new program would "reflect what CNN is all about: straight facts from our anchors and the widest range of opinions from across the political spectrum." The network did not say what programing would run in that slot in the interim.
