1. It wasn't all that long ago that the repukes were calling him "the future of the party"
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 10:15 PM by KamaAina
Now I wouldn't be surprised if he got "Scozzafava'd".

We need to take that +27 seat back in the worst way, anyway. As of now, NOLA's only representation in DC comes from, um, er, Mary Landrieu. :eyes:

with people like the new Congressmen from New York and California voting for it.

No thanks to those who didn't vote for it for whatever idealogical reason.

7. That last little shout out to Obama was sweet
I can imagine Boehner and Cantor passing a bottle of hootch back and forth until they passed out.

8. news for me here was the fact that he reached out TO Obama first on this

Sounds like he knew it was time to do something productive with his position, given his Democratic base and needs of the area

9. He's seen a lot of suffering in his life,
grew up in war zone, survived Katrina, then ran an advocacy program for survivors. The Vietnamese-American community is huge on the Gulf, he knows for a fact how lack of healthcare has affected his community.

11. As long as he listens to the conscience more often...
Edited on Mon Nov-09-09 12:15 AM by ProgressOnTheMove
Conscience of what feels right and wrong is sure how true Christians should be guided. If it feels wrong don't' do it, if it feels right there's your answer every time. Although I'm hoping the abortion thing gets corrected in committee that's what my conscience tells me, women's choice is sacred especially on this issue. It's not really federal assistance but humanely helping someone with a difficult decision. If their faith dictates to have no abortion that is fine, for them alone if their faith is humble it shouldn't impose on policy decision in all fairness. THe more humble appraoch is to promote contraception and education, than be a judge over another persons lfie. "judge not yet ye be judged."
