16. JV was only good in one role; It was Midnight Cowboy

where he played himself, a hillbilly who just fell of the turnip truck, trying to hustle NYC. In the movie he failed as a hustler because he was just to dumb. It is one of the greatest films of all time and a breakthrough for its time: The music and particularly, the signature song were a great part of that. If he had stayed out of politics he would have become a beloved icon, but instead even his daughter, who is far more successful than he ever dreamed, hates him.
