GOP Gone Wild: Unruly Republicans Disrupt Health Care Debate With Screams, Shouts, And Delay Tactics
This morning, the House began consideration of the rule for debate of the House health care bill. As the Democratic Women’s Caucus took to the microphone on the House floor to offer their arguments for how the bill would benefit women, House Republicans — led by Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) — repeatedly talked over, screamed, and shouted objections. “I object, I object, I object,” Price interjected as Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) tried to hold the floor.

In an effort to delay and derail the proceedings, the Republicans continually talked over the Democratic women for half an hour. They sought to prevent the debate by calling for unnecessary “parliamentary inquiries” and requests for “expanding the debate” by an hour.

After being repeatedly interrupted by Republican shouts, Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH) observed:

Do I not have the right to be able to continue my sentence without objections that are trying to censor my remarks here on the floor that I have a right to make as a member of this House?

Watch a compilation:

The presiding chair of the House, Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) tried to assuage the Republican raucous, without much success. The debate must be conducted with “a measure of comity and grace and decency,” Dingell urged. “There’s no advantage to be achieved by making all this fuss,” he told the Republican caucus.

3. They need to eject the disruptive members
and have them watch the debate from outside the chamber on TV.

Seriously, if these people won't respect the rules, they need to be tossed. They're adding nothing at this point. They can be readmitted for the vote.

7. The House needs a new rule: the ASSHOLE rule.
And the Republicans will clearly be in violation of it.

10. Don't you all remember
when the democrats were having a legate meeting in the basement of the House. ""Senilebrenner"" came down stairs yanked the recorder and mike off turned out the lights and told the democrats to leave. All they were doing was having a meeting. Then he went and got the Sgt of Arms to throw them out saying they didn't have the right to have a meeting.

Republicans were in control..they could do what they wanted. Their butt is a twist because they aren't in charge and can do thrash like this again.

I do not care how much hard feelings it would cause. If the republican can't behave and is causing a ruckus, if I were presiding I would call the Sgt of Arms and escort him/her politely out. Telling him he/she could return ONLY when he/she was acting civil. What right do they have to carry on like this.

15. Where do they think they are...England?? (small chuckle)
And if they think they are in England...then we would already allow Universal Coverage! (snark)

Seriously, I am a bit less than intelligent on certain parliamentary procedures and would not deign to squelch the right of free speech, however, if someone is declared out of order, more than once, is it not possible to turn their damn mic off for thirty seconds????

Honestly.
Belligerent spooge.
I have always contended that once a politician gets inside the beltway a certain amount of "forget the people you represent* elitism sets in...and all the elected officials tend to forget anything but the interests of the lobbyists who line their pockets the best...but the constant ignoramus attitude of grown adults using graceless, classless, playground bully tactics has GOT to have repercussions SOMEWHERE.

peace,
Lilly

16. These are the fascist motherfuckers that our President feels deserve BIPARTISANSHIP.
They cannot be reasoned with or shown respect. Extend your hand and they spit in your face.

When will Democrats learn to treat them like the SCUM they are?

17. Take heart
Organizations tend to exhibit this kind of hyperbolic behavior when they are dying. Let them rage against the dying of the light. They'll be neutered and gone soon enough.

19. they keep teaching us how to treat them - how convenient

sort of like Reagan giving amnesty to illegal aliens years ago. Sure makes it easy for Democrats to do the same thing when we can point at Reagan doing it also. Can't very well condemn their own tactics once they've done it.

Thanks Redumblicans
