2. I think that "freedom" thing dates back to Busch's address to a Joint Session of Congress after 911
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 01:20 AM by Turborama
And they've been using it at any opportunity ever since. It's amazing how much of Busch's rhetoric has now bwcome everyday language in America now.

"http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/gwbush911jointsessionspeech.htm">On September the 11th, enemies of freedom committed an act of war against our country."

Another example: even to this day because of http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Turborama/84">something Rumsfeld said, most American's think Al Jazeera are a "terrorist network" when in fact nothing could be further from http://www.iwantaje.net/hm">the truth.

5. And Bachmann was behind him cheering him on and mouthing the last few words...
Needless to say, she doesn't know jack shit about the Constitution, either.

6. I really like Cenk's
final point about TV 'news journalists' not questioning an obvious falsehood perpetrated by insurance industry spokesmen like Boehner.

How many times have we heard a Republican stand in front of the cameras and say "The American People do not want the public option. or, "The American People don't want government run health care." Of course both are clearly lies yet the media never questions these lies.

Everything is a soft ball when it comes to protecting the status quo.

7. To his point of the networks wanting to maintain access
If CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS made these foolish politicians (like Boehner, Bachmann, Armey, etc., etc., etc., etc...) look to be the idiots that they really are, if even just once, so what if they lose "access" to them. There are plenty more politicians willing to speak up and take the hard questions. I think their ratings would soar and the news would become interesting again. But instead we are stuck with the corporate whores. The ones who keep the idiot politicians on the air are the actual owners of the republican politicians who happen to also be the owners and advertisers of these networks. As long as that's the case, I will not be watching.

Capitalism is about competition my ass!
