1. That the first time I've seen Cenk not sitting down. K and R.
Not much of anything got covered today other than the Fort Hood shootings.
Cenk didn't get any coverage but also Michelle Bachman didn't get a bunch either at least not as much as I thought she was going to get!

2. CNN did record some footage of this one that was supposedly going to air today or tomorrow.
We'll see.

And no, I still don't know why the whole thing was put together so last minute, but in that context the turnout was pretty good (announced late Monday). But hey, we learned some lessons and we'll be much better prepared next time. At any rate, a big thank you to everyone who came out, phoned in or tweeted!

PS---If you came to one of the three events and have an interesting story to share, .

31. The video was great. It was a good start.
I missed this one but hope to join in future demonstrations. L.A. is so big that we need to have groups according to the area of the city in which we live so that we can organize transportation to events like this.

see more than the tea baggers to know we are there. Some costumes and imagery always good for television too, always works well for the right.

12. Despite less than 3 days notice and a budget of $0 there were dozens at each event.
The short notice is especially important on a Thursday during normal work/school hours.

Sure, if we had organized this weeks in advance (which we'll do next time) and had a platform like Fox News and right wing radio along with corporate backing to bus people around the country, give them donuts and coffee and pass out talking points and signs, we could also turn out 20,000. At any rate, I'm confident the turnout next time will reflect the improved preparation.

19. Here's a comment left by a 15 year old who attended the NYC event today.
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 01:00 AM by ihavenobias
New York Protest

I am 15 years old and in high school at the moment i brought one of my friends to come with me missing my free and lunch just to come for an hour and a half.

Unfortunately New York's show up was not as organized or as successful as Atlanta and LA but we did accomplish awareness plenty of people came over and asked what was going on why were we protesting and we explained to them

It was also great to see all different age groups from me in high school to college students to people in their 60's (not that i asked) we all chanted together in front of the new york CNN building or at least that's what we thought it was chanted and held our heads high for a decent hour after that the crowd started to disperse but i and a few others stayed after for another 30 minutes to talk and just chill have some interviews on flip cam's iPhone video cams and one girl brought her own video camera and interviewed a lot of people it was great to feel like we were doing something. Even without that many people we did make a difference we had cops trying to barricade us in front of the building but we moved a couple of times so they couldnt hold us back

I guess we're just not as cool and sophisticated as those Kansans.

Of course, we do believe in evolution out here, so that's something.

39. I don't care what you think of my manners
You can make all the excuses you want. You can sit here and criticize what I say all you want. I notice you weren't there yesterday. I have been in the streets campaigning for health care for months. So I think my opinion is an informed and valid one. These actions mean nothing when you don't have a sizable group present.

"So. A dozen people in LA and a couple thousand teabaggers in DC

Yeah, maybe if our side had access to billion dollar cooperations busing people around the country to rally's...we'd have better turnouts.

26. I counted about 20 "billionaires" at your effort
TYT were trying to get CNN to broadcast the truth about public opinion on Heath Care reform. You were poking fun at Teabaggers. Which actions will be more productive if they are carried out over several weeks?

33. There have been other demonstrations in various parts of L.A.
over the past months. Lots of people have shown up but there has been little coverage. L.A. is a sprawling city. It takes a while to get from one end to the other. We live on the east side and almost never go to the west side or to the beach. Sunset is pretty central but the parking in the area is almost nonexistent. I hope to be able to go to future demonstrations.

37. But that's not the point. This was organized (poorly by TYT's own admission)...
...in the space of 4 days. Teabaggers have corporate sponsors with deep, deep pockets. Give TYT the same resources, and I assure you they'll turn our way, way more than Bachman did today.

Maybe a new Facebook group or event page devoted to this campaign?
