GOP Health Care Plan Pulverized By The CBO


The CBO did a preliminary estimate of the Republican amendment to the House health care bill. There are now hard numbers to compare between the Democratic and Republican notions for health care.

Coverage:
Democrats – 36 million more covered by 2019, 96% of US covered
Republicans – 3 million more covered by 2019, 83% of US covered

That’s pathetic. Because the population is expected to grow over time, under the Republican health care plan there would be 2 million MORE Americans uninsured in 2019 than there are today, according to the CBO (50 million today, 52 million in 2019). But let’s look at cost:

Democrats – $104 billion in deficit reduction by 2019
Republicans – $68 billion in deficit reduction by 2019

The “fiscal conservatives” reduce the deficit LESS than the Democrats in the budget window, under their plan. And in the large-group market, where 80% of Americans get their private insurance, there would be a 0-3% reduction in the cost of their premiums; in other words, almost nothing (although that’s a preliminary figure that CBO doesn’t stand behind very aggressively).

of Dylan Ratigan. He's really refreshing and doesn't quibble about what he wants to say! And he doesn't take side either, but I find he's more Moderate and open-minded about many, many issues!

About 2 months ago I started watching him, had to go to the Dr. this AM and missed this, glad to see it posted!

MORE here should be watching, he certainly has won me over AND he has Spitzer on a LOT! Plus, one more thing... he just can't STAND Tim Geithner!! Always has something to comment about him, and most of it I AGREE with!

11. Mortality rates? Did I hear Rep. King correctly?

At 8'52" he said "our mortality rates have gone up in the last two years" or something to that effect. Is he proud of this? Is he saying this is why we should keep the present system? I don't understand why he would tout this statistic but wants essentially to preserve the status quo...

Mortality rate: deathrate: the ratio of deaths in an area to the population of that area; expressed per 1000 per year

So why champion the present healthcare system when mortality rates are going up? He doesn't make sense! :crazy:
