Kaiser Permanente has such a large portion of the insurance pool in California because they provide highly regarded health care at a reasonable cost to the membership. They operate as a non-profit, so more of each dollar spent on insurance goes to actual patient care, rather than running up corporate profits.

Bllue Cross of California is part of WellPoint, which is part of the private insurance blood-sucking industry.

Kaiser recently joined the "Healthy San Francisco" public plan "helping to ease the burden on the financially strapped city clinics and San Francisco General Hospital."

4. Not entirely true...
... Kaiser operates their hospitals as non-profit, mainly because they took over a bunch public hospitals at fire sale prices and were forced to keep their non-profit status.

Their medica groups and part of their medical plans operate as for profit corporations.

3. I'm glad they repeat very important points these days. A few dramatic pauses help absorb the info ..
too, but not too many. With a lot of emphass on key words here and there.
