James Carville on CNN's State of the Union re the Tea Bagger's purge of Scozzafava:

"I have an announcement to make. Ronald Reagan’s big tent just collapsed in Upstate New York. It no longer exists. And the reality is, a lot of Republicans are delighted with that prospect, I hear people all the time saying, "I'm not a Republican, I'm a real Conservative" and the mesage to the republican party is, if you're not our definition... if you’re not a Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin directive of what constitutes a Republican, if you don’t check the necessary boxes, then they’re going to primary you….People have said this for a long time this is the kind of party they wanted, they now have it.

I think somebody can go pick the tent up and throw it out in lake Ontario somewhere, because it don’t exist anymore."

1. Let's keep the tents and throw the
Republicans into Lake Ontario.

Only kidding, of course.

The lake is polluted enough already, thankyouverymuch.

13. Point taken. We may have to bribe the Republicans' home planet
to come pick them up and take them home.

19. I was wary of being deleted for advocating that harm come the way of
the Republicans.

Which is not to say that if they were to ACCIDENTALLY S L I P and fall into Lake Ontario never to be seen or heard from again, I would not lose a lot of sleep over it.

Whoa, what am I saying?! It would be a TERRIBLE TRAGEDY.

2. Carville's Message Holds More Insight Than One Might Glean From Casual Listening
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 12:29 PM by ProleNoMore
As he stated, many Republicans are distancing themselves from the Republican party with the line that "I am not a republican, I am a real conservative".

Likewise, many Democrats are doing the same with the line, "I am not a democrat, I am a real progressive".

Both parties would be wise to heed these statements carefully.

5. A Pew Survey out last spring showed that
Only 32% of all Americans felt that they were real Democrats.

Only 28% felt that they were Republicans.

The inside of those statistics is a majority - a full 40% feel passionately about things being closer to their party ideals than to the Corporate Controlled warp that our politicans offer us.

one that took place in a house of worship.

22. False equivalency argument
I get tired of these stupid blue dog talking points that try to compare progressives to nut-job, fact-challenged right wing nut cases.

28. Uhm
Ok so agree that the progressives and their issues are the equivalent of the birthers on the right?

That is the equivalency that is being asserted. As to my suggestion of depressed canid disorder, what do you suppose are the politics of a person that would make such an equivalency argument?

29. Well, What Would One Make Of Someone That Claims A False Equivalency To Exist
When no such assertion was made.

One would suggest that a deeper and cleaner reading of the previous posts be made.

30. Give me a break
A veiled false equivalency is still a false equivalency.

Recommending that Democrats that state "I'm a progressive not a Democrat" should analyze or consider Carvilles words when he was speaking about Republicans stating "I am a conservative and not a Republican" is implying an equivalency.

If you choose to be intellectually dishonest about that I suppose it is your business.

3. Carville is such a wishy washy tool, who cares what he's opining about now.
I've always been more than a little embarrassed that he seems to get so much airtime as a supposed spokesman for our side.

If I'm going to ignore or dislike most of his comments, I cannot then in good conscience highlight or recommend his one or two opinions I might agree with. . . just as I don't actually look a clock that is only right once a day (here I mean a digital clock that displays AM/PM) as a place to find the time.

12. It's all just an act. Isn't that his wife, Mary Matalin, sitting next to him.
Would you stay married to a person who acted like she does when you talked to an audience. I don't care if I were talking to the PTA or my dog, if my spouse made faces and distracting gestures and raised his eyebrows in ridicule when I talked, I would not like it at all. Partners, spouses should treat each other with love and respect.

I do not think either of these characters is being real on TV. They just put on a comedy act.

26. He is not perfect that is for sure.....

Married to a pub that is closely allied with bush and friends.

Going after Doc. Dean ..claiming we could have won more seats when Dean presided over us winning majorities as DNC chair.

Lackluster performances as a pundit. Especially on the old Crossfire. Where you could barely understand his southern accent.

You just do not know where his loyalties are.

...But when anyone calls the pubs out I have to applaud.

10. First Scozzafava supporter goes to Owen~
<snip>

"The first ones out of the gate: United Auto Workers CAP Region 9… endorsing Democrat Bill Owens."

“We would like to commend Dede Scozzafava for a hard-fought campaign and she will always be a friend of the UAW. Like Bill Owens, she has been a fighter for working families and a dedicated public servant. Doug Hoffman’s commitment to privatizing Social Security, opposing efforts to reform healthcare, and supporting tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans is directly at odds with the best interests of working families in Upstate New York, and right now we can’t afford to send a voice for those kinds of priorities to Congress.”

9. They call themselves "conservatives" to disguise that
they're a bunch of hypocritical Liars. I don't think so. If they don't want to be republicans then they need to call themselves something more factual than conservatives. They're haters.

How about "devil worshippers"?

We need to demonize the word "conservative" the way they did the word "liberal", and these clowns are going to help us do it.
