Lawrence O'Donnell (in for Keith Olbermann) talks to Media Matters President Eric Burns. Burns calls White House Communications Director Anita Dunn's description of Fox News spot-on, adding that the network is a "24/7 political operation with a... goal to destroy the presidency."

It really bugs me that they keep calling it "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misinformation">misinformation". It's not. Misinformation is accidental, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disinformation">dinsinformation, however, is intentionally false.

1. Republicans are so cliche....
In the words of Alan Grayson "If the President ate a BLT the republicans would try to ban bacon".

2. Getting the message out. Where is the DNC?
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 10:11 PM by shintao
Ok, foxviews (FV) coffers are getting filled from the republican arm, and they are now a political voice, not a news channel.

Maybe we can learn something here about what the DNC should be doing, and not the White House. It would seem if ABC or MSN followed the Republican pattern 24/7, their viewership would go up as FVs did. And their coffers would soon be filling with DNC dominate ads.

Like the Internet, it is a logical next step in politics. It should be fought from the WH, and it should play down & dirty with half truths, myths & misconceptions of progressive propaganda to shout down FV. They can even call it "fair & balanced," to the level of FV. Unlike FV, the Democrat station would have the inside scoop everytime, just like when Bush fed FV stories. And just to be onery, we could call it the Democrat channel.

If the propaganda tool is successful, as I think it would be, it would be the republicans whining to stop it.

7. Fox is an easy target because their misinformation is so obvious...
Blaming Fox, and Fox alone, is diverting attention from the fact that *all* cable news channels are engaging in this misinformation campaign against Obama's plans. Only, they do it much more subtle (that is, more subtle to the untrained eye of a casual viewer). One needs only to look at Jon Stewart's dissemination of CNN that aired monday, to see how they operate:
