Lady Gaga performs her rendition of the 13th annual 'Imagine' at the HRC National Dinner 2009. Before her speech, she said that she was upset that homophobia is running rampant in the music industry. She also announced that she will be marching in the Equality March.

5. Quite a few fart notes and vocal clinkers, too
and her word changing wasn't that great.

Maybe she needs to get clean and sober.

6. I thought the new lyrics were clunky too, but I thought the heart was there
Don't know shit about the woman, but I thought it was powerful. Then again I mist up pretty much anytime I hear that song.

8. Same here. No idea what the fuss is all about.
I think she has very little talent and is a made up star, just like Pink.

9. She nailed it pretty good then, for only having a little talent.
I don't even know who she is, but I do know that would be hard to do, if you did not have talent.

12. Flavor of the week...
Nice message/song whatever, but not much talent. We really do celebrate mediocrity as art these days.

3. I, in turn, am upset that she is a major recording star.
Nothing to do with politics (hers or anyone elses) everything to do with her all flash no substance music.

That pokerface song makes me want to yak.

Sorry Gaga fans.

25. I wouldn't want to feel Lady Gag a with anything less than
a ten-foot pole doused in anti-biotics.

7. I love her.
I thought she was just this overhyped, overrated pop star until I actually bothered to see some of her live performances. I love that she's so very passionate about gay rights and is right on the front lines, fighting. Good for her!

11. Same Here
But then I actually read up a bit about her and saw what an excellent background in musical training she has, saw some of her "pre-Gaga" NYC club performances, then actually saw her in concert. She puts on a great show and plays a mean piano.

10. The ability to embrace one's mediocrity is what passes for talent these days... I guess
Cool message being conveyed at the HRC, underwhelming performance though. I assume her silly theatrics were a desperate attempt to convey gravitas since her musical capabilities alone could not achieve that. Ugh.

Instead of some jerk trying to trick you into watching him criticize SNL.

16. She's no Hailey Westenra or Katie Melua or Julia Fordham ...
But even the best singers crack a note every now and then. Perhaps, it could have been more memorable had it been a better rendition. But, the evening wasn't about her.

21. a professional's view
we have a technical word for this in the business- She SUCKS.
She is strictly a no-talent. Seen her a few times and have been massively unimpressed. No voice, no musical skills, no looks- what else?- oh yes- no talent:puke:

22. Ah...
I didn't realize artistry was so ... scientific.

What are some other popular performers people should not like, based on the industry standards?

:)
