Rachel and Chris Hayes discuss the treasonous behaviour abroad of the GOP. Personally I think it's all about trying to tell the rest of the world, "Don't listen to the black guy, he's not a real American. Listen to us instead, we are the real voice of America."

Busch is meant to be http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/NEWKHSITE/data/html_dir/2009/10/01/200910010069.asp">going to Korea soon, I wonder what he's going to try and tell them.

13. Did you watch the latest Daily Show?
I just saw it earlier today. (It comes on at midnight on the Canadian network.) Jon Stewart was commenting on right-wingers cheering about Chicago losing the Olympic bid. Something about how those guys "hate Obama more than they love their country." Damn good observation.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I agree with Jimmy Carter that a lot of that hate is about race. All those white good ol' boys who just don't like a black guy being in charge.

If Hilary had become President, she'd get the same kind of hate, except it would be about gender. Remember all that misogynist crap floating around when she was the perceived front-runner in the Democratic primaries? And look at the hate directed at Nancy Pelosi. Conservatives tend to be pretty macho and they don't like women in authority any more than they like blacks in authority.

I've recently figured something out from a combination of studying Sociology and years of observing politics. It's seems to be a law of nature. If you get into a dispute with people who think you're an inferior life-form, they'll do almost anything to "put you in your place", even if it causes trouble for themselves. You know; "No way am I taking any sass from a woman/minority person/poor person/gay person (or whatever lower status person)." And those conservatives do like to think of themselves as better than everyone else.

perpetuating all these lies. our country is young and maybe we will eventually

5. How far does it have to go before the word "traitor" is used?
Edited on Tue Oct-06-09 03:11 AM by AsahinaKimi
If one of these Republican Senators were to sell Top Secret information to another country..would they get away with it?

Where and when does the rule of law come in? When and Where does Justice swoop in and say..ENOUGH IS ENOUGH? It is bad enough we have lies being spewed on right wing talk shows, and over a Republican cheer leading network, but when a Senator or Congressman with an (R) after his name moves essentially against his own Nation.. who is it that says.. "You sir, are a traitor to our nation, and will be severely punished!"

Do the Democrats have enough backbone to have someone arrested for wrong doing...or is this the same old game, that allowed George W. Bush a pass?

Edited on Tue Oct-06-09 04:57 AM by Sky Masterson
And R's went berserk..
After all the Dixie Chicks were only ashamed of Bush(rightfully so) and the Republicans are ashamed of America.
We need to save all these clips to remind Americans just how these Benedict Arnolds went behind America's back. How is this putting America first?
We are doomed that we forget to quick. I imagine that is why history repeats itself far to often.

15. Americans are getting "used" to this. Rebuplicans are expected to do this kind of stuff
and because their followers are not thinkers they don't know this is bad for our country. Since Obama is a "non resident muslim who will take over our country for another" they probably see this as okay. This is so "Un-American" but these so called "patriots" don't see it as that. Total brainwash by their party. It is sad.

Horrible horrible people. I believe in my heart that they would encourage a coup against President Obama. These people don't deserve to breathe the same air we do.

9. President Obama and Secretary Clinton
are encouraging this traitorous behavior. If they would declare the Honduran govt., a "coup" govt, then Americans would not be allowed to fraternize or trade with them. Honduras, American Financial Aid, would be cut off and they would be shunned until they relinquished control. If a "leftist" coup had taken over Honduras, then we would be all over them; even though a "rightest" coup is historically much more oppressive. Clinton and President Obama need to enforce our laws and sever all ties with Hondura. If they did so, then these rethuglicans could be charged (and should be) with treason. They lie so much about the Honduran Democratically elected govt., that it is sickening. The "opinion poll" that was included on the last (Democratic) ballot, was in no way binding and simply asked the Honduran people; IF they were in favor of getting rid of term limits. The military coup, claims that President Zalais(sp), by including that opinion poll, was attempting to seize control of Honduras permanently. Any port in a storm...really the wealthy was looking for a way to get rid of their President, because, although when first elected, he "worked" for the elite, his conscience forced him to help the impoverished.

19. World leaders are more aware than many Americans of the GOP attempts to undermine President Obama.
And they remember, more than many Americans or our conservative dominated media seem to, that the GOP fools parading about on the international stage represent the party that foisted the war criminal team of Bush and Cheney onto the world stage.

To the international community, the Republican Right is clearly the party that gave us Bush-Cheney. Those interested in politics will already be aware that the bitter Republican right wingers who lost the election are trying hard to undermine the Democratic President Obama.

The world knows, far better than many Americans do, with our major corporate media pretending the Republicans have any credibility in spite of their idiotic behavior so far, that the GOP's major policy concern for 8 months has been to defeat whatever our president proposes. So they will be viewing any GOP visits with suspicion.

So while I don't think our president needs to notify world leaders about the GOP renegades on tour, I do believe that their going to meet with leaders of a military coup, whose government is not recognized by the USA, is treasonous.

Looked up the difference between sedition and treason on Wikipedia.
Sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power. Treason is the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state, giving aid to enemies, or levying war against one's state. Sedition is encouraging one's fellow citizens to rebel against their state, whereas treason is actually betraying one's country by aiding and abetting another state. Sedition laws somewhat equate to terrorism and public order laws.

21. Sedition and treason would seem to describe different parts of the GOP action plan.
According to Wikipedia...

Sedition is the professional bullying that corporations and right wingers have funded to protect their private profits. The sophisticated manipulation that right wing PR groups like FreedomWorks use to stir up vulnerable, desperate populations bankrupted by our predatory capitalism and cruel Pay-to-Play healthcare system, to get those "genuine grass roots groups" to storm town halls against the Obama Administration's attempts to reform the broken health insurance system that has hurt them. I am glad Rachel Maddow, Rolling Stone, and others have followed the financial trails to see who has been manipulating the anger of our desperate fellow citizens against our president.

Treason could be what we would call opposition politicians meeting with the leaders of a military coup whose government is not recognized by the USA. We recognize duly elected President Zelaya as Honduras' legitimate leader. However, more world-weary, seasoned pundits might say we shouldn't call the cheap posturing by leaders of the 29%-Party something as serious as treason. They'd probably say the world knows they are just bitter GOP losers continuing their campaign to undermine the Democratic President. They might urge us to relax about the trip because the world knows the GOP as The Party that brought the world George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, so they have zero credibility.

14. What a horrible guest
Chris Hayes is not ready for TV interviews. He needs to collect his thought, not stumble over his facts, SLOW DOWN, which would probably help him quit stuttering, and just have a conversation with Rachel instead of try to blurt out 10 minutes of material in a 3 minute chat.

17. So -telling China not to trust the US,
supporting a right-wing military coup in Honduras, and denying global warming is what passes for "foreign policy." I hope these idiots keep going in this direction. This - as much as all their attempts to undermine domestic policy - show middle America what the Republicans are about at this point. What is left of the party are lemmings marching off the cliffs being led by these bozos.

18. it just seems like if a Dem
would do something like any of this it would be a lead story on CNN and everyone would be talking about Dems being against American issues. Yet Republicans do and say stuff and its not even talked about. Like Republicans have the market as great Americans already and there would be no need to question their actions.

Again I think Dems just dont stand up and slam the Republican party. They shouyld be calling them unAmerican

22. Reprehensible but not vital
Edited on Tue Oct-06-09 01:13 PM by Quasimodem
While I agree that these actions are reprehensible, and at least in the sense of how vocal disagreement with the former administration was once defined — treasonous. However, I cannot see that these nutjobs are doing the present administration much real harm.

I am certain that Europeans and Asians are aware of what an affliction America’s right wing has become but still there is nothing more efficacious than a visit from some demented climate change denier at a climate change conference to drive home the point. I have little doubt that President Obama was treated just a wee bit more graciously by his hosts out of pity for having to put up with such goons.

The ones who truly should be apoplectic over these wingnuts’ behavior are their constituents, because of the shame they must endure, seeing their bad judgment paraded before the entire world.

Edit: Badly split infinitive

25. Wake up, Rachel! The US most likely is behind the coup in Honduras!
Why else would the US continue to blame president Zelaya for trying to regain power? Why else would they treat president Zelaya and the coup-leaders as equals? Why else would they give legitimacy to the coup-leaders by engaging them in "talks" headed by Oscar Arias? Why else did they still not cut off all funds to the Honduran leadership? Why else is the US military base in Honduras, which president Zelaya wanted to close down, still in use by US Army personnel?
