Rodas, who is attending the 64th General Assembly of the United Nations, called for the international community to send a medical mission to her country to examine those poisoned.....

Those are typical riot gases. A true toxic gas is like Phosgene. There would be bodies all over the place. CS is still nasty stuff, which I can attest to by personal experience. But its not considered a WMD. Not saying what is going on in Honduras is right in anyway, but lets drop the poison gas nonsense.

People running around claiming toxic/poison gas not realizing that WMDs are a VERY VERY big deal. CS is nasty stuff, had some doses of it myself, but its not a WMD.

There have been a couple of reports of people dieing from it in Honduras. Both from the same source and neither have been independently verified. I sure the blog poster means well, but one does not get exposed to CS and die the next day from pneumonia. However if you already have some medical conditions, CS could kill you with a heavy dose. All the symptoms described sound classically like CS.

I am not a fan of the current government in Honduras, nor deploying CS gas where there are embassies near by, but the hysteria over CS gas just makes those screaming it look like idiots.

Since then, the mission has been surrounded by police and soldiers. Zelaya and about 65 supporters inside accused authorities of temporarily cutting off water and electricity early in the week, and later said the government released an unidentified gas that caused headaches, nosebleeds and nausea.

Brazilian Chargé d’Affaires Francisco Catunda confirmed that Saturday: “Yes, it was released,” he said in a rare interview outside the building. “One of our officials felt it, felt symptoms.”

Supporters of Zelaya wept at a funeral Sunday for Wendy Elizabeth Avila, whom they said died of complications from inhaling tear gas.
