3. Can somebody explain this?
This is something that I can't understand and I am hoping somebody can explain this to me. Obama seems to be heading toward a bill that will benefit the insurance companies and not include a public option (let alone single payer). For argument's sake, let's make an extreme starting point and say that he is bought out by the insurance companies.... What I don't understand is what a President would have to gain by this. He is already the President and it must be obvious to him that passing legislature that his party is in favor of will benefit him much more than anything else can. It can't be financial since he would not have any financial issues as the POTUS. So my question is what does he think he has to gain from keeping the status quo? He is brilliant, so he must understand the repurcussions of a decision that essentially effecting almost no change on the current health care system. When I hear that the president is close to abandoning the public option, I can not help but wonder. WHY!?! WHY?!? WHY?!? Can somebody add some insight?

4. Obama can't do this on his own
He needs citizens to put pressure on their Senators and Representatives in Congress.

Let's wait to hear his speech next week before we accuse him of betraying his base.

8. Beautiful.... and heartbreaking.
18,000 uninsured Americans die every year, because of the ludicrous for-profit 'system' we have.

That's equivalent to six 9/11 attacks, every year.

And Republicans / Blue Dogs want to make sure it stays that way.

Ask the next pro-lifer or teabagger you meet if he thinks that's OK....
