I've always wanted to pay $5 to send a letter. I'm sure the corporations will help me out. They've done so well with health care.

2. the post office works just fine

Why should Gov't services have to make money or even break even? The USPS is sooo much better than any I've come into contact with including the Canadian postal service.

3. The world is full of

little pukes like Thom's guest. They want to privatize everything. Just look at the mess in Iraq due to privatization. I am sick to death of these assholes. Since the 2000 election we have seen the Enronization of America. No wonder the SCOTUS threw the election over to BushCo. Look at the money they have made!

4. I wanted to scream at my radio during this segment. I work in distribution

distribution and my company primarily deals with UPS both freight and small package services. They lose our items, letters and large package stuff, all the time. They are not better than the USPS because they are privatized.

I also thought Thom made a good point in wanting the postal person delivering and handling the mail to be a career person who was well paid and had an incentive to do a good job. Treat people well, give them good benefits, and a fair wage. They will be more likely to work hard. Not a concept that computed to the CATO guest.
