1. That was a sweet day.
I lived in D.C. at the time. I bought like 30 copies of the Washington Post with a huge "NIXON RESIGNS" headline.

I was 10 when Tricky Dick resigned. I was at a bowling alley with my parents (they were bowling). Just before the speech came on, they stopped all the bowling and wheeled 3 TV sets onto the lane approaches. When Nixon said he was resigning, the entire place cheered.

3. I remember that day. I was 15. On the bus, coming home from a Dr.'s appt,
everyone was all abuzz about the pres resigning. My mom had volunteered on his campaign, thinking he'd end the war. She became a Democrat that night.

We all had a toast.

I met George McGovern recently at a book signing and told him my proudest vote had been my first - for him for president. It's now a tie, at least, of course, since I voted for Obama.
