Those who want to denigrate tasers frequently post anecdotal nonsense about their use. However, when you ask them for hard peer reviewed evidence of the dangers of taser use, they have exactly....

The reason is because there AREN'T any peer reviewed studies that suggest tasers are dangerous. Quite the opposite is true, especially if anyone has enough sense to consider the alternatives like flashlights, firearms, physical force, or just plain beating someone into submission, all of which carries significantly higher risks of injuries and death for ALL parties involved.

Those that seek to ban tasers are just another example of what happens when otherwise well meaning people disregard hard reliable data and propose uninformed knee jerk solutions that have the opposite effect of their intent.

is it not reasonable to suggest that because the alternatives are often worse that some go too far with tasers? It's like going out drinking knowing you have a designated driver, i.e. you're likely to drink more.

To answer your question, yes I believe it's reasonable to suggest lots of things. It's reasonable to suggest that taser use can and should be monitored for abuse. It's reasonable to suggest alternatives if you can provide evidence that there's better solutions out there. However, I've yet to see any information that suggests it's so, and I am more inclined to believe that tasers have saved a large amount of injuries and death.
