Note---Before you read the summary, there is great news for TYT Fans:

Summary: Cenk gives the latest Birther line of attack, i.e. a YouTube clip where President Obama's step-grandmother in Kenya accidentally mentions he was a Kenyan citizen. The problem is the full clip includes an immediate correction that the Birther version conveniently excludes. Also, they claim that when he was in Indonesia as a 5 year old he was listed as an Indonesian on the school registration form. The only problem is the form is irrelevant as Cenk goes on to explain. Also, the McCain campaign openly said that there was NO real evidence showing that Obama is nota US citizen and overwhelming evidence that he is. Finally, Cenk explains why the Birther movement will never die, and why they are immune to facts and reason.

They're good for a laugh and now that Coultergeist has come out against them, it means they're embarrassing the propagandists.

smile and nod and just let them go on and on before asking the devastatingly obvious questions.

Such as:

Have you ever seen the long form of your birth certificate? How can you be sure that you are a "natural born U.S. citizen?"

Isn't it amazing that someone had the foresight to plant birth announcements in Hawaiian newspapers?

Wouldn't someone have noticed that he wasn't a citizen when he went to get a passport since he never has been naturalized? (Anyone who has ever gotten a passport knows you have to present proof of citizenship to get one - either a valid birth certificate from a state or naturalization papers).

4. The Birthers should have their own religion.
Talk about beating a dead horse! If they didn't have the birth certificate issue, they'd be stuck admitting their real problem with him is the colour of his skin. If there was anything to this, McCain would have found, and Clinton too.

Sooner or later, you have to give up and GET A LIFE!

I understand that part and sure the GOP are going to pull stunts for however long their party exists or a variant of their party exists. It's just if we want folks to do better you have to encourage them no matter who they are. I don't forgive the terrorist remarks which McCain himself did at least pull back from. I just find it wise to tell folks when they're right. It's fine if folks strongly feel different I can understand that at the same time too.

... I got the feeling that McCain wasn't in charge of his own campaign. He seemed to be on a slightly higher plane than the GOP in general. Witness the "he's an Arab" scene.

Still, not a good choice for Prez!

19. What fascinates me is the idea that nothing will change their minds.
Here are people who believe something that is patently false. Yet I contend that there is nothing that anyone on the planet could say that would convince them of the falseness of their belief. Further, there is no physical object in existence that anyone on the planet could present to anyone else that would change the minds of these obsessed, sick individuals.

So let's see. There's nothing anyone can say, and there's nothing that anyone can show, that will make them disavow their beliefs. Sound familiar? It's called a religion. It's called a religious cult. They are called religious nuts. This is what they do.

But it's still fascinating to see how far off the rails the human psyche is capable of going when its owner is simple-minded, uneducated and religious, and surrounded by other identical "minds".

Where a group like the swiftboaters is going to solicit for a large donation that they say they will be giving to the Kapiolani Medical Center Childrens ward in the name of the doctor that birthed Obama as proven on the long form version of his birth certificate...

They claim the administration will have to give them the information or they will run spots that say Obama must hate sick children...

LOL the only people sick are these idiot asses.

Let me prove to you that the 'birthers' are not legit. Now, we already showed part 1 of this, and the race deal, and registration number, and the signature, and the press has already seen it. Fact check dot org said it was 100% certified, and they are as non partisan as it gets. And we've got 2, different papers in Hawaii that published the announcement of his birth. Including the grandparents, house and address at the time 47 years before he ran for President. OK, that would be one hell of a conspiracy. Now there's round 2! Now that we've present all that evidence to them. They are going to prove no amount of evidence is ever, going to work. You can give them everything in the world and they still, won't be happy. Here's round 2: well did you hear that his grandmother in Kenya admitted that he was a Kenyan citizen! Boo-yah! and that's on you tube. Now here's the part they don't tell you. There was an interviewer who kept pressing her on it, till she said yes he was born in Kenya. Then she said Oh no I'm sorry he was born in the US I'm sorry I misspoke, instantly OK. They cut that part out, that's not on you tube.*shrugs*

Now you get a sense of how fraudulent these guys are? And how that they know that this is a load of garbage. Why did they cut that part out instantly, when she says, oh no, no, no I'm sorry I misspoke he was born in the US. Oh they're trying to prove a point that doesn't exist, but it gets dumber. Did you know that Obama visited Pakistan, in 1981 when their was ban on American visiting Pakistan back then. So he must have a non US and Us passport, ha ha. Alright so you look into it and you find that there was no ban on Americans in 1981... *shrugs* It's not attached to the facts, they don't give a darn about the facts. They'll make up anything. Right now, they've got another one for you. They go, yeah yeah yeah, you got your facts on this one. But did you know that when he was in Indonesia, when he was 5 yrs old and they registered him in school. They registered him as Barry soetoro, which was the name of his step-father at the time. And they said his nationality was Indonesian on the form. *feigns shock*

So, you go ask the state dept. and they are like are you kidding? That's the stupid school form, you can write anything on it. We have his birth certificate, we have his passport. In order to renounce citizenship, that is the claim the birther are claiming. By putting that on the form who ever put it, they actively renounced citizenship. You know what you have to do to renounce citizenship? You have to commit an act of treason or come in and rip up your passport in front of then and they have to officially, clear through the process that a person is no longer a Us citizen. Some guy doesn't write on a thing when someone is 5 yrs old and then say they're not a Us citizen. Are you kidding? The thing is you build up this thing where you debunk, one after another, after another, after another and they'll come up with 3 other lies. They don't care this will go on forever. Ben Ferguson on CNN said, that Obama should come out in a press conference and just wave his birth certificate in front of a crowd. Like that would do it, ha ha. There is nothing you can do, that would convince them otherwise...

The President of CNN, John Klein. Came out and said enough is enough. Because Lou Dobbs is out there going, er I don't want to call him undocumented but there are questions about his birth certificate. So the CNN president said, look we bothered to get researchers, we didn't want to mess up this story or leave anything uncovered. And we got in touch with the Hawaiian health dept. We talked to the men that originally saw the first birth certificate of Obama, we covered every single angle. And according to this memo that's been leaked, it seems this story is dead. If there is anyone who is still not convinced, doesn't really have a legitimate beef. So please stop talking about it on air, it makes us look crazy... So, of course none of this will be enough. One more thing John McCain apparently looked into these birther claims. While his team was running against Obama and they looked at some of the court filings. People who filed against Obama, and they were like well, our original thought was that they were misguided but we didn't want to leave anything uncovered. We do need to do research against the opposition, right. They were running against him. So they did a lot of research on it, and they found absolutely no evidence that he wasn't a US citizen. And they found overwhelming evidence to say that he was. So that's when they decided not to press on the issue, because it would make them look stupid. It had no legitimacy whatsoever. Final wonderful piece for you, to give you a sense of what they found in caught and this was the McCain campaign, looking into court filings. They were saying please, please stop wasting time on it. One of the claims in the 1st court filing against Obama was, if you look at the Italian version of wikipedia. It says that he's not a US citizen, let alone the Italian version how absurd and silly do you have to be? Oh come on man, please give it up, please let it up. Anyone that claims to be a sentient human being who holds on to the idea that Obama's not a natural born citizen of the US, is making a fool of themselves. They're doing more damage to themselves than they know. You've done more harm to yourself than you know, I'm trying to help a brother out. You know what the response would be to this, if you're so sure he's a US citizen why are you trying so hard? And if we don't how come we didn't present any evidence to the contrary? ha ha. Think about it! So, that's the birthers once and for all and I'm done.

Edited on Mon Jul-27-09 12:42 PM by tblue37
If so, she would hardly be an infallible authority on his birth, so even if she hadn't corrected herself, her words would not counter a certified US birth certificate--which he has.

23. I agree with
Cenk on this. No evidence will change birthers mind that President Obama (I love saying "President Obama") is not a US citizen. The conservative ideology cannot win on it's own merit, so they constantly need to accuse their opponents of not being "Real Americans". What they really mean is they don't want a government of the people by the people, they want a government of the rich powerful elite by the rich powerful elite. I think that I could use these same arguments when a conservative candidate like Palin or Huckabee runs for office in the future, for example Palin could be charged with being a Secessionist or Huckabee accused or being a Theocrat or Dominionist.

I think it's simpler than that.

They want a government where a black man is not in any position of real authority. A few tokens in the House and Senate....a committee chair here and there....but Commander and Chief???? No way!

It's akin to Teabaggers." Racism straight up."

If there mother was alive why not come out and tell of them being with his Mother when Barack was born? And where is the Dr. who delivered him? I think that would stop this idiocy! But of course even that wouldn't stop some who are just doing this for hateful reasons.

28. Where was the MSM when legitimate questions surrounding Bush were raised?
Lou Dobbs and other "legitimate" newscasters openly raise doubts about Obama's citizenship. But back when Dubya was running against Gore, there wasn't even a whiff of Bush's DUI, or cocaine use, or even his AWOL from the air force. When Rather attempted to raise the issue he was, IMO, set up with a forgery of Bush's military record...and THAT became the story instead of the fact that the original one said the same thing!

What is maddening is that this relentless demonization of President Obama with stories mostly false, from palling around with terrorists all the way to the birthers ridiculous claims does reach a select audience, that being the base of the base of the Republican party. They are the ones the fuel the party from the 'grassroots' with their passion, misplaced though it is. It is in the general interest of the GOP to keep stories like this alive. The Idiocracy may be a small minority, but are important to the success of the new GOP moving forward. Where there's smoke......?
