Note---Before you read the summary, there is great new for TYT Fans:

Summary: Cenk plays and breaks down a clip of Director of the Office of Management and Budget Peter Orszag with John King of CNN discussing roadblocks within the Dem Party (read: Blue Dogs, etc.) to passing Healthcare reform soon. Cenk explains why King's approach is terrible, and does a mini-rant on the problems with the corporate media and how they never mention corporate money as a factor.

2. Without even watching the clip, I suggest:
the same corporations that own the politicians own the media.

3. News media?

There are no news media.

They are only talking heads who stir up shit between opposing issues.

These idiots on the news today know nothing about anything - they are just rip and read idiots who can talk.

13. Exactly and they stir up shit to create a box for the viewers or readers
to inhabit, thus our world becomes a world of shit for so long as we remain in that box.

The corporate media only represent commercial buying corporations and their agenda, they don't represent and could care less for the American People; and the critical issues affecting them.

22. Watching the "news media" these days is equivalent to watching
a car wreck. And I think they fully know that. The news media is literally competing with these shocking video shows now. They are disturbing comedy at best. They are in decline and unfortunately the American psyche loves to watch these crap shows. I think we can expect them to continue to spiral into pure feces as the American people continue to be dumbed down. The best thing anyone can do for the sake of their sanity is get informed through the internet. Most of the MSM's "news" these day consists of a car chase followed by a clip from The Daily Show or the Colbert Report followed by a meaningless argument about a spoon fed corporate talking point. Sad days for America.

8. The media *not* suck at covering anything?
In this case, they're beholden to the same corporations the politicians are, so they have a vested interest in covering up the truth.

16. 'Motives' are difficult, if not impossible, to determine.
(Think: WHY did my husb/daughter/brother/friend do that??? Do you REALLY know?) 'Covering' motives, imo, is impossible.

Same as knowing what someone 'really wants.' Can't be done. Have to try to figure out from actions.

17. If you mean broadly in life sure.
But if you mean in terms of why politicians try to derail single payer/strong public option plans and protect the private insurance industry? I don't think determining motives is very difficult at all.

Hint: $$$ & staying in office

:)

18. The MSM?
The problems with the MSM are as great a threat to us as anything we face. It isn't a matter of turning it off because the rest of the population is watching it. This is becoming more like 1984 every fucking day.

21. Yes, the media totally sucks;
They are contributing to the demise of our democracy. They wouldn't criticize Bush, but they will Obama. Also by constantly bringing in the "opposition" to negate any progress.

24. The Media Suck at Covering THEIR OWN Motives On Healthcare
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 11:26 AM by rocktivity
namely, holding on to their advertising revenues. Why do you think they're still running with the "Sergeant Jim Crow-ley" story? They don't want to talk about health care industry profits, their lobbyists giving money to congresspeople, or insurance companies denying care.
