On Sunday's "Meet the Press", Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell recalls a story of "a friend of a friend" about the horrors of National Healthcare in Canada to argue against supporting a Federal Health Insurance program that competes with the private healthcare industry.

McConnell's pitiful third-hand account can't compare to what is ACTUALLY happening here in America. The Right-wing is then shown for where their REAL priorities lie... with the survival of the private health insurance industry... a ridiculous and completely basesless concern.

2. Yeah, well, I have a friend who has an uncle who worked
for a congressman. My friend says that congressmen have a great health-care system, but my friend can't afford health insurance, so he can't get chemotherapy for his cancer. So, up yours, McConnell!

6. I'm going to edit this down a bit.
The video seems to go on a bit more than necessary in some places. I think I'll try to edit it down some tonight to see if I can't make it a bit snappier.

"Kentuchy" buys McConnell's mountaintop coal removal, tobacco industry, gun-totting, bible thumping, creationist anti science bullshit
and keep electing him and then we have to listen to his crap coming out of his mouth.

7th level of separation from him and a monkey. Come on wake up kentucky! Check out this guy's deferments during Nam.

15. I also have family in Canada.. They like their health care. Several had cancer..
One is deceased. He did not want for care during his terminal illness.

He and his wife DID NOT have to file for bankruptcy because of medical bills. His widow still lives comfortably in their home.

Mitch McConnell is an ignoramus and a liar!!

12. So, you have to go all the way to Canada to find a friend, Mitch?
Probably some indigenous person from the NW Territory who doesn't have access to the Canadian health care plan.

14. What are you saying Mitch?
Is our plan to let the Canadian Government make our health decisions????

Our own Government made the decision about YOUR health care...and the rest of Congress. Are you against your own government plan?

Explain yourself.

19. They can lie all they want about Canada's health care.
It won't work this time. Too much information available now with the internet. It's laughable.

However, I am worried that even if most Americans know the truth and want single-payer government controlled health care too many Democrats are owned by the insurance companies.

Most of my informed Canadian friends are very worried that our friends south of the border will be cheated yet again by their crappy politicians.

23. I'm 77. I also get told I'm too old for some procedures.
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 09:10 AM by Wizard777
I guess he would feel better if the friend of his friend died on the operating table. This is a harsh reality old people face. Without a procedure you can live for another 3 years. With the procedure you could live another 4 or 5 years. But you only have a 10% chance of surviving the procedure. I'll take the 3 years over a 90% chance of dying next Tuesday.
