1. How much I wish I had seen this in my country in 2000 and 2004. So much,
actually, tears well, and I can't even look at that video right now.

makes me sad at the apathy of our culture and to the things we take for granted.

27. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE
We need to take to the streets, just like this, and demand
publicly financed elections and universal healthcare......it
would put our country in the hands of the people if we can
take the money out of politics, I think both sides agree on
that.

34. You are so right!
I would like to see Americans demand an end to the bank bailouts and the establishment of a single payer health care system in this way...

2. Assuming this is the widely reported "Death to Dictator" chant being heard in Tehran

You can see why they tried to steal the election.

Shades of the French Revolution.

Our country has had many massive demonstrations...granted not as many or fervently as years ago. Let's face it now days every Tom, Dick, or Harriet wants to protest their cause, which may be very valid, but it dilutes the passion.

18. Since we as Americans have never, since the great American revolution
violently overthrown a despotic leader, and there have been more than one; And Iran has overthrown at least one despot in the last 40 or so years, violently and down through the ages many more.

Iran was once the greatest power on earth as the Persian Empire and we have much to learn from it's people.

So we must support the people of Iran in any way each of us can and in any way all of collectively can.

My heart is crying for these folks who deserve better.

17. I am so proud of these fellow human beings
We the people of the world must stand together against governments who use us for their own sick and sickening purposes. Thank you Iran for showing us what patriotism looks like....except for a few brave souls, we lost it a long time ago and watching you who have so much to lose standing up for what is right makes me weep for our lost courage.

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/06/the-revolution-will-be-twittered-1.html

NOT on CNN. NOT on NBC. NOT on NPR.

NOT on CBS. NOT on ABC. NEVER on FOX.

In Iran, the Internet was shut down on Friday -- for the coup d'etat.

In the U.S., the media is shut down since 2000 -- for the Christianist military-industrial coup d'etat.

26. It's clear
The Iranians have less to fear from their government than we do. Or they have a bigger grievance.
If Americans railed against the swine Bush with the same fervor his dictatorial tendencies would have been curbed. Instead we did a collective bend over and let the cartel run wild.
Democracy is not a spectator sport.

is that while Americans talk freedom's talk, these people walk the walk.
