"It is the only way because it is the only way to do two things at the same time, to provide comprehensive universal heath care and to control costs..."

2. Cannot say for sure, but I do not think so...
seems as if the interviews were conducted after Baucus agreed to meet with a few SP advocates.

3. My prediction to a tee....They will jimmy everything toward
the insurance industries and corporate Medicine with expansive Orwellian terms; Declare a great victory, champaign all round, grandstand on this "achievement" which translates into a sellout and reap the rewards from the insurance industries for years to come insuring their re-elections, while the country goes into a bankruptcy of the working class and with the new bankruptcy bill written for the top tenth of one percent; Meaning the middle class will lose everything in the inevitable humongous medical bills.

5. Congress wants all that money from the insurance companies
and drug companies. They will allow thousands/millions to die for a few dollars more. They make me puke!
