"as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, President Fierce Advocate actively is still firing people from the u.s. military because they're gay."

..."I wonder what his record would be like so far if he wasn't such a 'fierce advocate' for gay rights."

4. I can't say how upsetting this seeming turn of events makes me. Is this
a tact of some sort to perhaps move the change into fruition or is it (as it seems) that Obama is just another politician saying what ever is necessary to a certain constituency to get elected.

5. The Fierce Urgency of Whenever

Clearly, Harry Truman was a rube for desegregating the military by executive order. :sarcasm:

(The Clinton posse has taken Candidate Obama hostage, and put President Obama in his place.)

8. C'mon, you can't blame "the Clinton posse" for Obama's (in)decision here.
It's actually condescending toward the president to attribute his stance to some other faction.

6. Thank you, Rachel Maddow, for doing JOURNALISM.
And FYVM to the Obama administration for their weaseling out of every promise on civil rights.

10. He was previously very critical....
of the adminstration's soft-on-Wall Street but tough-on-auto makers bailout policies, so I wouldn't be hasty to write off Olbermann.

9. Disappointed with Obama on this issue thus far.

Given the economy, it seems reasonable not to take up "Don't Ask; Don't Tell" as a whole immediately, but he might at least have used "Stop Loss" to prevent the expulsion of those gay military personnel who wish to remain in the service. Dude needs to move some.

Have to say -- Hillary Clinton, who was not my candidate in the primaries, has been excellent on gay equality issues, extending domestic partnership benefits in the State Department.

11. I find it ironic that Obama stumbles all over his tongue trying to explain himself on this issue

Why does he sound insincere?

Why does he look so darn uncomfortable every time this comes up?

Why does his special talent of vocalizing explanations and decisive reasoning fall into the trash can whenever this issue comes up?

Why indeed.
