2. Good luck to them

Good luck to all the demonstrators. It takes real guts to stand up in a place like Moscow and demand gay rights. There is still a long way to go for equality, but it's a step forward from Soviet times when gays were sent to labour camps for 'reeducation'.

I did have to smile at one detail, though. The chief Russian organiser was arrested for "walking with a transvestite", according to the Independent. Can that really be a crime?
