3. This is so funny. I teach art and one little boy says to me one day that his
daddy really likes Steven Colbert. He then says how funny he thinks Colbert is. I said how about Jon Stuart, do you watch him too and he says Jon stuart sucks. I told him that both comedians shared the same views in politics and that Colbert was only pretending to be a Republican to make fun of them. He's only in the 5th grade so Im not so sure he knew what I was talking about but I bet his dad thinks Colbert is a Republican. HA HA HA!

18. Oh, I think they got that one . . . and corporate-press tried largely to help them ignore it -- !!!
His show, however, is too strongly pro-Repug -- I've always found fault with it tho

I love Colbert's other work -- all of it!!!

13. why at the good parts?
Why do all the good ones have to get mangled at the worst times? the top of their game?
A. Lincoln, J. Kennedy, M. King, A. Sadat, M. Ghandi, P. Wellstone, this and other similar videos. I wonder if there might be some powerful interest at work here. Perhaps even an interest counter to the needs of the majority. Hmmmmmmmmmm..........

24. I don't think its all that organized anymore...
Just a few wingers doing a little criminal hacking.

I doubt they even covered their tracks all that well... after all,
'God Mitt Uns' is on their belt buckles, so obviously they
are fearless.

11. RWers are generally not particularly bright, but this study's results are amazing.
To think that any group of people could be so slow boggles the mind. I wonder if the subjects were allowed to hear the Colbert audience's laughter. Presumably they were since the audience is part of the show, and Colbert frequently varies both his remarks and his delivery according to their response.

I have Republicans that I am compelled to associate with that repeat the most ridiculous notions as absolute fact. They are fans of O'Reilly and his ilk which totally explains their lack of objectivity.

They are not stupid, but they have a certain mind set in which they refuse to believe that they are being misled. When you attempt to point out the fallacy of their "facts" they go into a withdrawal mode and cease to discuss the subject any further. It is as if they are in a state of denial.

That is not unlike what Bush's reaction was when he was confronted with undeniable facts. He withdrew and refused to admit he was mistaken. The same applies to Cheney and the rest of the neo-con PNACs who are responsible for this catastrophic situation the nation now finds itself in. I have found that conservatives have a certain mind set that is impenetrable and that discussion with them is total waste of time. It is my opinion that there is a real differences between the way liberals and conservatives process information. The very definition of a liberal thinker makes this obvious.

liberal (lîb´er-el, lîb´rel) adjective
Abbr. lib.
1. a. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry. b. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded. c. Of, relating to, or characteristic of liberalism.

16. I totally agree - they think differently
it must just be there DNA. My parents are of that set and they do exactly what you say. Given any good arguement, they retreat and then state that they don't want to talk politics (and they're the ones who ALWAYS start the discussion).

21. The MI prof nailed it when she said it's about how RW minds deal
with ambiguity. (And maybe the right category is authoritarians ~ right wingers. Some people must resolve ambiguity in their own favor or, as evidence that their own views are correct. Another name for these people is control freaks.

15. SO TRUE - my kid comes home from school - private christian-
and tells me that they said Colbert speaks the truth regarding religion & politics - but he does it in a funny way, but sometimes funny isn't good (so they don't really like him all that much). I was very confused - did they NOT actually get that they are being mocked by him??
This happened just two days ago, so seeing this clip makes me understand what dumbass conservatives think about Colbert, which is just too funny. They are just too stupid to get satire.
p.s. my daughter will not be attending that school much longer..

17. Basically I'd have to agree, if I wasn't familiar overall with Colbert . . .
rather than total ridicule, Colbert makes too much of their inane arguments with

too little rebuke.

While I love Colbert -- "God This Week" -- and his amazing and wonderful speech last

year at the dinner for the national press/? -- his show does more for the right than

it does for the left. I have a problem watching it -- makes me cringe.

20. I love Stephen Colbert, but...
I actually wonder sometimes, because he is so adamant when pressed and confronted with his religious beliefs, whether he is really a devout Catholic. I know when he's pulling his usual shtick regarding conservative talking points and stupidity. When he does the religious stuff I truly begin to wonder if it's real or not. I'd love to ask him off camera.
