After O 'Reilly ambushed the editor of ThinkProgress while she was on vacation, UPS decided to pull its advertisements from his show.

6. Down goes Bill, Down goes Bill!!!!!

Let's keep up the assault, Bill will be off primetime in due time. He's losing his barrings and we're the cause of that.

16. Too bad he will be replaced by Beck, who is *insane*!
At least BillO follows some kind of logic... Sick, twisted, manipulating logic, yes, but you could still see why he's saying what he's saying. But Beck is batshit. Have you seen him last week in the excerpts Olbermann showed during his 'World Worst'? It was scary.

8. I work for UPS
And I have to tell you, this makes me feel really good. Also worth noting, FedEx just told Congress that if they passed the EFCA, they (FedEx) would stop buying American planes. UPS, on the other hand, is already completly unionized, outside of management, all of whom started out in the union.

I don't want to come off as a shill for my employer, but the truth is I really couldn't have given a crap before these two occurences. But UPS has been the relative good guy now twice in a row, and that makes me awfully happy.

9. Gee ain't FedEx smart...
cause them yuropeean Airbus workers ain't union are they. Oh wait, yeah they are.

I know now to specify UPS or USPS shipping on everything I purchase online, and if they only offer F'dEx, then I will make it clear to the seller why I'm taking my business elsewhere.

13. UPS Was A Corporate Sponsor Of "The Contract On America," They Have An Overseas Shell Corporation
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 09:54 AM by mikekohr
based in Bermuda, Overseas Partners Limited, (OPL) whose sole design is avoidance of United States income taxes. The IRS won the largest back taxes judgment in history against them in the late 1990's. The Bush administration dropped the case during the appeals process.

They are not good guys. I was in management there for 12 years. They are no fan of the Teamsters. They are not your friends and certainly not your ally. Decertify the Teamsters and watch how fast they skin you alive.

They are no fan of Democrats either. I was repeatedly informed by upper management that Democrats were a pale shade of the Communist Party. Their lobbying organization, UPSPAC, one of K Street's biggest, gives overwhelmingly to Republicans. When I left UPS in 1992 I turned in testimony and documents that detailed their tactics of forcing supervisors and management into donating to UPSPAC. The Federal Elections Commission filed a charge against UPS, in which, after a four year legal battle UPS agreed to pay a fine and to never engage in this behavior again (never get caught again).

I turned over to the EEOC internal company documents that resulted in a sealed judgment against UPS for age discrimination.

I turned over to attorney David Mark of Seattle, Washington, documents that proved UPS was aware of tactics that resulted in employees being forced to work through their unpaid lunch hour. The documents proved that UPS was aware of these facts and were actually tracking the number of affected employees on a national level, in spite of years of legal testimony to the contrary. The case resulted in a multi million dollar judgment aginst the corporate entity.

UPS, may be an authoritarian dinosaur in the business world, but they are extremely astute in avoiding bad press. In fact press clipping are gathered at a national and world wide level and studied with an intent as to how to influence positive press coverage. Example: one of the biggest contributors to National Public Radio is the Annie E. Casey Fund, This fund is named after the daughter of UPS's founder Jim Casey.

17. A lot of employers have different political pasts.
Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 09:26 AM by Seldona
You should be proud of this move. I would be if I worked for them. The fact they have employees posting at DU is heartening to me as well. Here is to hoping the corporate culture that led them to support the 'Contract With America' is long gone.

18. Great for UPS
The sad part of all this is that the family of that young woman who was raped and killed, has been dragged through hell thanks to O'Reilly. Its awful enough what that family went through losing a child in that way, then to have O'Reilly so mater-of-fact call their child a "moron" on the radio is something no parent should have to go through. I would like to say to those who watch his pathetic garbage of a show just because you want to see what outrageous thing he will do next, remember you are contributing to his inflated ratings. If we would stop watching for that reason, this idiot would have no real ratings at all.
