About a month ago, historians ranked Ronald Reagan as the 10th best president in US history. Apparently these folks have forgotten just how much damage "The Gipper" actually did to America. When you look at his track record, you can trace almost every aspect of today's economic disaster back to Reagan's policies of deregulation, tax breaks, and complete lack of oversight for industry. In spite of this, Republicans today are still crying for the good ol' days of Reaganomics. Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio discusses the truth about The Gipper's presidency with William Kleinknecht, author of the new book "The Man Who Sold the World: Ronald Reagan and the Betrayal of Main Street America."

2. When you try and tell right wingers about the harm Reagan did

their cuticles dilate and their eyes roll back in their head and they begin to do whats called a freaking out. The damage done by the stooges that pulled Reagan's strings is just beyond measure. They took working people's money and never gave anything in return other than inventing new ways to take their money. I go absolutely ballistic when dumb asses preach Reagan.

6. Thanks for posting! Reagan was not only the historical cause of our current

financial disaster (as detailed here) he also reignited the Cold War! Under Brezhnev, Nixon and Carter it had cooled to the point of SALT II. Then in comes Reagan to saber rattle and demonetize the "Evil Empire" and we began again with massive Cold War Pentagon spending. All our tax money was spent on Nukes and hardware that's useless and we wonder why bridges are collapsing and public transport is rusting away...
Hello History, get me rewrite: Reagan didn't "win" the Cold War; the Soviet economy couldn't sustain the arms race and had a heart attack before we did.. . Does that really make us the "winner"??
And yet, and yet the Republicans and much of the media squawkers think Reagan was such a great president that he should be carved on Mt Rushmore!!

7. Excellent interview and a lot of valuable information...

One of the better illustrations I've seen of how Reagan and his ilk demonized the Great Society/New Deal as well as government as a whole and how it relates to where we are today.

Now I gotta go get the book! :)
