Y'see.... it appears (badda bing!) that we as homo sapiens have an innate tendency to recognize faces. This starts before a baby can even follow objects with his eyes (I'm told). This makes good sense for survival. So when an infant sees a face that has authority, like mommy's, it reacts with a big grin, gets a bunch of "awwwww's" and possibly a meal. Good survival instinct for a species that depends on its eyes so much. No mystery there.

As adults we still do the same thing. We see faces and/or authority figures in everything, as this mash-up demonstrates. In the Western World it's the icons of Jesus with a beard or Mary in a veil. No doubt they see Krishna with a flute, or Buddha in the Lotus Position in tofu and rice noodles in the East. No mystery there either.

This is another prime example of how freely and ignorantly the New Religion (Christianity) steals images and holidays etc of the Old Religion/Pagans.
Do a little homework main stream media please and try using your computers.
There is no longer any excuse for this ignorance as we have the greatest library of knowledge this modern world has ever seen at our fingertips.
The images of a woman (The Earth Mother) and images of the Green man (Her male counterpart) were seen and recorded as being seen everywhere by the Pagans of a number of paths long before the New Religion became the latest fad.
Native Americans have also seen these faces and images in the past in the trees and plants and land and sky and tried to show them to the early settlers, only to be called ignorant savages. They too had their own names for them: The Creator/Sky Father and Earth Mother.
Another example of how much has been stolen from the Old Religion would be that the "Christmas tree" of today is the Yule tree of ancient times. The maypole is the stripped Yule tree pole to be used in a fertility ritual in spring and the Yule Log is that same Yule tree pole, chopped up to burn the following Yule. All of that is just symbols of the eternal Circle of Life/Wheel of Life/Medicine Wheel,which is where the early Christians ideas of "ever lasting life" comes from.
ok, rant over :) peace...I just want the truth out there and for some people to stop stealing everything on the planet that isn't copyrighted or nailed down and claiming it for their own.
