1. that's too funny
I was thinking in the first part of the video that this is something that Alex Grey would animate, and lo and behold, there is his animation he did for a Tool video. Then I started thinking "This is exactly what Bill Hicks was talking about", and there he is. And Tool used his monologues in a lot of their songs.

Tool for the win.

10. I picked that out too
"Creator" "Ancients knew matter didn't exist" What? I would say the reverse was true of the old beliefs with some supernatural mumbo-jumbo tossed in to explain the unknown.

It is a simple observation that the physical world to us is only appreciated within the limits of our sensory system with the brain adding a few more layers of complexity.

This video makes it seem more like the Ancient mumbo-jumbo beliefs more than a modern understanding of Quantum Mechanics and ancillary Physics.

14. And do you know which one of the speakers believes in shape-shifting Reptilians?

David Icke - He's the one with the white hair speaking about holograms and such. Google the guy, he seriously claims to be able to observe shape-shifting reptilians. Yikes.

I read a lot of books by real scientists and I've studied a bit of physics in college, and what's going on in this video is what has always gone on: People cherry-pick bits and pieces of real scientific theories and then shape them into their own "version" of their Universal narrative.

This video is more sci-fi than sci, meaning, there is always a little bit of real science in science-fiction.

12. Thanks for posting. Glad to see science is fianlly catching up to me
All that is just is. And all that is...IS God. The illusion of perception begins when ones sees oneself as something separate from or different than the source which both contains and sustains him.

The separation identify is found in the beginnings of all religions. It's not ME and God it's just God. Desire is the basis of the life experience, The last desire is to have no more desires...the lost of ego...the loss of the separation identity and the bonding with all that is...the loss of what we call 'the self'.

We've always been there but we are just not aware. Likie the man who is walking in the ocean looking for the ocean and all that is...is ocean. He walks forever looking for what he already is but considers himself separate from. The ism has no observer...it just is. But, we can't get there from here. But we can progress.

Nothing is nothing...it contains no elements so cannot be observed...observing makes us aware of our separation identity.

Now that's funny...how long did it take us to become aware of...nothing.

18. Forest for the Trees
"You Create the Reason" C. Stephenson

You create the reason

for your existence

Create the reason

for your existence

How many people really know what

they're talking about

or if what they're saying is true

All I know is what I observe

All the rest is created by mind

It seems there is something

rather than nothing

Non-existence does not exist

I'm trying to explain the essence of being

to get a realization of what I consist

You may think it absurd to make a

theory of reality

when reality is relative

to the mind that occurs

but since the mind that occurs is of the

same species

the genus homo

then I'm talking to you

There's an infinite parallel theory that

the universe splits

into innumerable copies of itself at

every moment

There's a superstring theory that there

are ten dimensions

six of which are so small we never see

It's possible that everything that exists

equals nothing

It just popped into existence through a

quantum fluctuation

and I think it's important that you

consider the fact

that the mind may be a mathematical

abstract

***********************************************************

"Algorithm" by C. Stephenson/J. Coz/M. Peterson

Everything that ever was

is a song that is sung to existence

I keep stepping over the boundary

and I see the essence of my being

Spiraling, panoramic emotion

Sentimental, eternal vision

Melodies of intrinsic meaning

riding so very high

Algorithm of happiness

Algorithm of perfect bliss

Algorithm of consciousness

Algorithm of Satori

Undulating pattern, caressing,

Plowing perspective shift

Pulling in a wave of thought

from ... the infinite

Sensing a chaotic touch of love

That the ebbs in this beautiful cycle

Sometimes riding a very strange loop

back in time I find

*****************************************************

It was nice to see Robert Anton Wilson.

I enjoyed it.:applause:

30. I'm a physics student and all I can say is: this is bullshit (very detailed rant following)

Consciousness? Physics is not about consciousness! Philosophy, biology, informatics, computer science are about consciousness!

"Everything is connected." Not in a universe with a finite speed for transfering informations.

"Every particle is a reflection of all other particles." A crude and simplified misrepresentation of the physical/mathematical viewpoint "mean-field-theory" (which is not mentioned!).

"Matter does not exist. The old philosophers were right." They were talking about matter being a illusion of the human mind! Matter does exist! It's structure and nature are just weird and virtually unimaginable for the untrained mind, but that does not mean, it doesn't exist!

"Hologram"? What the f**k does he mean? He's showing fractals. This mathematical theory can't be applied to physics, as there is a limited set of smallest particles. (No neverending set of new particles if you get smaller and smaller. Want prove? Analyze the measured structure-factor of hard-impact scattering experiments. It would look totally different if there were a substructure.)

"The solidity of matter is a mirage." No, it’s not. It's the most obvious macroscopic consequence of the quantum-mechanical Pauli-principle.

"Everything around us is a frequency. And if you amplify the the frequency, the structure of the matter will change." Frequency? This extremely simplified misrepresenting view can only be applied to a free single particle. And if you you "amplify" (what does he mean?) that frequency, the particle doesn’t change, it just gets faster.

"Regarding matter, not consciousness, as real, leads to desperation and greed." Do I really have to comment on this?

"Fear is a very dense, slow vibrational state." I guess somebody wants to connect human emotions to the abstract physical/mathematical concept of a system-state.

4:52, I have to quit before I puke.

32.  Consciousness? Physics is not about consciousness!
PS: It's all about consciousness, the physical world is a projection of consciousness. I know it's not stuff they teach you in school. But the world we live in that was built on what they teach you in school is not working out too well, is it? Einstein was aware the " the problems we have in the world cannot be solved with the same consciousness that created them"

He was aware that we need to make a quantum leap in consciousness in order to truly bring peace to the world.

Anyway, it is not bullshit as you say. It is just a growing understanding by many deep thinkers and scientists around the world, that we had it ass backwards. Where as the old paradigm says that consciousness evolved from matter we are now coming full circle through science that the ancients were right after all, that consciousness creates matter. What you are first and foremost is conscious awareness. When your body dies you are still conscious awareness.

Anyway, just food for thought. This is not yet provable with hard science although the Cern Hadron collider will likely shed much light on the matter in the next few years.

O8)

33. Reason why I'm so pissed:
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 06:24 AM by DetlefK
There are questions and problems you can solve by using scientific methods. And there are problems that can't be solved that way.

Okay, "the world is a projection of our/someones consciousness". So what? You won't find any serious physicist on this whole planet, who dares to explain consciousness/emotions by applying the laws of nature!

The guys in this video are just randomly throwing mathematical/physical words at the viewer, without knowing what they actually mean. "Everything is a frequency. Let's sacrifice a virgin to the almighty frequency! Uah!" "Everything is just a hologram!"

Of course, you can post theories using established physical terms, IF YOU F**KING KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN!!!! These lazy wackos surely think energy is kind of a manapool and a frequency is sort of a magic ray.

Physical terms have exact definitions. If you are using a different definition, were are no longer talking about "physics", but about "your physics".

Wanna know, why I'm so pissed? Imagine, you are trying to have a serious discussion with someone. And he keeps using words that are totally inappropriate for the context and have a totally different meaning in common sense.

34. All matter is composed of
energy right.

Energy vibrates at a certain frequency, measure a sine wave on an oscilloscope and you see it vibrates at a certain frequency from positive to negative.

Can we agree on those fundamentals?

Lets use sand as our medium. In this experiment we raise the frequency of the sound vibrations and we can see as the tone is raised higher more and more complex patterns come about.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGeNvn8sLl8&feature=related

So this is the basis for throwing these terms about. Food for thought man, we must try not to get locked in rigid thinking patterns. After all science once thought the earth was flat and the sun rotated around the Earth.

36. I don't mind poking strange ideas, but at least we should speak the same language
Imagine you go to a dentist and he says to the nurse: "We need the big pointy thing, the small sharp thing and that shiny thing." Not very assuring, right?

Matter is a state of energy. E=mc²

But energy does not vibrate. Waves vibrate and energy is transported via waves, be it photons or normal matter.

Waves are the mathematical solutions of a class of differential equations that are called wave-equations. Sine waves are common solutions, because of it's simple and yet elegant mathematical attributes (to difficult to explain in short). However, there are much more solutions than just sine waves, which also have to be considered waves.

If we take the (in quantum mechanics most commonly used) time-independent variant of the Schroedinger-equation, we get sine waves only, if we apply the case of a single particle in vacuum to the equation.
For example, if we consider that particle bound in the attractive harmonic-oscillator potential V(x) = 1/2 * k * x², one of the possible solutions is a gaussian-bell-curve. It's not sine, but still a wave. :D And the term frequency can't be applied to the gaussian-bell-curve as it's not self-repetitive.

And for the sand-experiment, I guess that it was invented by Brillouin. Or to the least I'm very sure it was a french guy.

Yes, in the past everybody agreed that the earth revolved around the sun, but at least they all agreed on the definition of the term "rotate". :D

41. Consciousness
First of all the person that came up with the name "consciousness" should be put in jail for creating such a hard to write word O8)

But Detlefk I must say I have no "university" Physics courses so I won't be able to speak your lingo. Interesting, that it is almost like people trying to communicate with two different languages isn't it? I was never intentionally interested in physics. I did have an out of body and a few other expanded awareness experiences which led me to an interest in consciousness and the deeper questions of who are we, what are we and why are we here.
So I really can't get into a debate of scientific theory and all that. And I'm not trying to. I just put stuff out there to make people think about these things.
It's funny, after I had these experiences which really shifted my understanding of (and I have no better way of saying it than) the spiritual realms, I tried to have discussions with my brother about it, and he wanted me to "prove" stuff to him. I tried,... and he asks, "well how do you know?"

That is really the thing that can't be explained, I just knew stuff somehow which I didn't know before. So I never really try to hard to "prove" it to anyone. I just plant seeds. Sometimes they grow

38. Unfortunately this is not transrational but prerational, as is 90% of this new spirituality stuff.
There were a few very good points: indeed, we are made to feel guilty about the past, scared about the future, and ignore the only real thing in existence, which is this moment.

Ego development theory as well as a number of well known contemporary philosophers and social scientists do recognize a spirituality that exists above and encompassing the rational world, but this is not it.

In transrational spirituality a person's ability to take ever more sophisticated perspectives on complex situations grows, as does his or her capacity for care that extends to the lowest levels of the biosphere to the highest levels of the noosphere. It is not magic, it is not irrational, it is not superstitious. It is legitimate spiritual growth but not one that throws out everything since the Enlightenment.
