I am wondering if the GI who doesn't speak a lick of Arabic thinks that those kids are replying platitudes back at him either...

I grew up right next to an American base as a kid in the old world, I am not surprised to see this behavior... let's just say that the locals couldn't celebrate enough when the US packed and left. The amount of shit the locals had to put up with wasn't worth the meager business the GIs brought.

Anyhow, if cannon fodder was smart and educated wouldn't be cannon fodder, would it?

i dont think theres a logical excuse for acting that way.
i dont give a damn they are in a war.
thats not an excuse to be an asshole.

i know there are alot of people out there serving morally and they need people to serve very badly, but maybe people should be screened a little better. they have to represent us as well as fight unfortunately. some people just arent up to that kinda challenge.

while i think both wars are a big fraud, theres no excuse for how this guy is behaving.

You heard....Miami to hawaii to Afganistan... the lies he was told to join where probably ass deep. Also, he's young. Think about how you act when you are 18, 19, 20... Think of the jokes you played on friends and siblings. They aren't adult enough to understand what they are representing. They are resentful, angry, and dissolusioned.

Yes, his actions have "ASS" written all over them, but its to be expected. If the kid wasn't lucky enough to get into college and join a frat, he gets to do the army.

This situation only shows me how much we need to fight to get our children back and really re-build what we have destroyed.

A sad day for the whole world.

You are correct there is no excuse. He should be ashamed and his family should be ashamed to have raised someone to be so thoughtless and cruel. I think ass transgresses all economic boundaries though. Believe me I've had some affluent acquaintances who are just as disgusting. In fact, our Pretzledunce reminds me of just such and example. Perhaps the attitude of our Commander in Chief is setting the example of how to treat the rest of the world.
