4. Under current conditions
UB40 might have been more appropriate. There name was derived from Unemployment Benefit, Form 40 in the UK.

8. I didn't
shit on the parade. I was simply pointing out the irony if it had been UB40.

Anyway - I'm pleased to learn you have no unemployment problems your side. :sarcasm:

9. my apologies- my reply was a to a composite of Liberal1973 and yours...
i am aware of the meaning behind ub40's name and think it's brilliant- and most fitting for an Obama/Biden Inaugural. both bands are "of the people" (yeah even u2, though all rich and famous now, never forgot the struggle of "the everyman"). isn't the UB40 form for the UK?

again- my apologies, and enjoy the parade!

10. Yup
UK form. It is/was the benifit form #40 for the unemployed when the band formed. Unemployed here get benefits derived from our National Health/Insurance system. It's currently c. £ 60 / week and I think its now called job seekers allowance.

I gather you're a sax player which in my world makes you a wholly good and truly wonderful person :) As I have found to be quite common here in the UK my very first record back in the fifties was Sidney Bechet's Les Onions. Managing to plant myself smack in front of 5 sax line ups came at a much date and needless to say sitting 8 feet away from a pair of 17 piece Basie and Ellington cover bands playing Jumping at the Woodside together, in what was otherwise a battle of the bands, was simply heaven. The icing on the cake for that was it was also Jules Holland birthday so he was on piano.

:hi:

11. That sounds like on hell of a concert!
when i was a kid i saw Duke Ellington on his final tour. He played Powell Symphony Hall here in the 'loo and my grade school class got to go. most of the other kids in the class could give a fuck but i knew what i was seeing. it was awesome.

yeah- i do play sax... i'll send you some URL's.

6. Only Obama could follow U2
I was there and figured after U2 only Obama could follow...was a great time. Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger closed the show.

7. I'M PISSED AT THIS EDIT AND HBO
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 11:10 PM by Left Coast2020
The second song had much more energy to it and a feeling of joy. So now HBO claims copyrights. This is BS.

Is there a way to repost "city of blinding lights" or the rest of the show? If HBO yanked it, they need to lighten up a little.
