Mitchell Gold, founder of Faith in America and the author of "Crisis: 40 Stories Revealing the Personal, Social and Religious pain and Trauma of Growing Up Gay In America," recorded an open letter to Rick Warren.

The letter and a copy of the book was hand-delivered to Pastor Rick Warren yesterday to Saddleback Church. Faith In America wants Rev. Rick Warren better understand how his statements about the LGBT community wrapped in religion-based bigotry is wrong.

3. Obama making an enemy a friend, I think. The "forum" was a joke, Warren is a joke.

4. If Rick Warren really believed
the faith he purports to preach, he would have no need to fulminate against gays. In reality Warren is less 'purpose driven' than ego driven. He craves attention for himself, and that need places his monstrous ego at the top of his list of priorities. Why would he do what's right (according to the faith) when self-aggrandizement has brought him fame and fortune?

Rick Warren stands firmly among those, clergy and otherwise, who stand at the door and deny admission to those Jesus ostensibly died to invite.
