Clearly, GE doesn't care about the advertisers on their piddling little MSNBC. For awhile there, they intended to dump MSNBC and move everything that they didn't trash to CNBC. If they cared about the tiny bit of cash that MSNBC brought in (and in the big picture for them, it's tiny) they'd have found a way to suspend Imus, give him an act of contrition, and keep him on, because his draw in an hour was greater than KO's in a month.

I think he likes his salary, and he knows where "the line" is. He can go so far, and no further.

If he starts ripping his bosses and coworkers, I would imagine that this is a sure sign that GE is planning to divest themselves of MSNBC. That's just my opinion, though...

They cut a shitload of jobs (700) not too long ago, and basically put MSNBC 'under' NBC news. Two links on that:

There's over 3300 dead American soldiers in Iraq - and David Bloom, one of NBC's own reporters was killed in Iraq, and yet Andrea just looked the other way when she claimed that "we all knew there were no WMD's in Iraq".

but I watched the short video clip of Andrea Mitchell several times and at no time does she cite any poll as her source. So "creative use of polls" is a non starter.

The greater problem with her that should be pointed out is that she just flat out says that Nancy Pelosi and Congress' marks are no higher than Denny Hastert's before the November election. She gives no basis, statistical or otherwise, for such a statement and therefore this should have been reported as her opinion. An opinion that is wrong. This is what shows her true bias in that she doesn't even bother to try and twist a poll on this one!!

Lewis "Scooter" Libby on the March 12 edition of MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, NBC chief foreign correspondent Andrea Mitchell claimed that polling "indicates that most people think, in fact, that he should be pardoned -- Scooter Libby should be pardoned." Mitchell did not indicate to what specific "polling" she was referring. But a CNN poll released earlier that same day indicated that an overwhelming majority of Americans do not believe Libby should be pardoned.

The CNN poll, released at 4 p.m. ET on March 12, found that 69 percent of respondents felt President Bush "should not pardon" Libby, while only 18 percent felt the president "should pardon" him. And why does CNN still have a corporate charter? The airwaves belong to the PEOPLE. Networks like CNN enjoy a LICENSE to USE the airwaves at the people's pleasure.

If they pollute those airwaves with repeated lies, I think a good case can be made for pulling CNN's corporate charter and their broadcast license.

It didn't have to be that way. There's a lot of other ways to fund a media system instead of turning to the purveyors of landmines and nuclear bombs.

But that's what we did in America. Andrea Mitchell's salary is paid for by GE, which is one of the largest war profiteers in the world. GE "brings good things to life" but they also build a hell of a lot of nuclear bombs, landmines, and other weapons of mass destruction.

So what did we expect? Follow the money, people. There's other ways to finance and fund a media. America chose probably the WORST way possible: letting defense contractors finance the system.

Remember those little concepts like "corporate charters" and "licencing of public airwaves"? Corporations can be controlled by US. The airwaves belong to US. If we can make a law saying you have to be 18 years old to drink or drive, we can damn well make a law saying that defense contractors can't own cable networks.

It could all be so easy. If we'd just wake up and pay attention.
