Last week, Sen. Kerry answered questions at two town hall meetings in Massachusetts, and spoke of fighting terrorism by means of a a global counterinsurgency and through education, employment and empowerment of moderate citizens.
Sen Kerry will visit leaders in Afghanistan and several other countries after he attends the climate talks in Poznan, Poland next week.

1. Imagine
Where we could have been had Blackwell (and others like him) not existed.

No slight to Obama, but we missed a great President in 2004.

2. I was furious about McCain and Lieberman yesterday
Inciting further tensions between India and Pakistan. All I heard from them was 'air strikes'. Nothing about resolving the underlying issues.
I'm so glad we'll have a voice of reason heading up the SFRC this session.

3. I know - my first thought reading McCain's comments was Thank God we won
McCin was likely worse than Bush - something I would have said was impossible 2 years ago.

Karynnj: you said, "we missed a great president in 2004."

Voter turn out needed to be better...But I think people were turned off by what happened in Florida in 2000...so people said, okay well, I won't vote this time, but we'll get 'em in 2008...(we need people at the polls)

8. Kerry got something like 8 or 9 million more votes than Gore
Obama got about 10 million more than Kerry - Both years saw phenomenal increases in voting. Kerry has said that they actually exceeded all there targets, but there was a completely unexpected increase of 10 million votes for Bush - mostly evangeligals voters who were brought out in record numbers.

I think it wa a near impossible year - Bush was at around 50% and the percent thinking the country was going in the wrong direction slightly below that. In 2008, Bush was near 20% approval and over 80% said the country was going in the wrong direction.

5. Thanks for posting. Global Counterinsurgency is right.
Sigh. Imagine if Kerry had won in '04. What a different world we would already be looking at.
