Protesters against California's Proposition 8 banning gay marriage targeted a Mormon temple for supporting the measure, Hattie Kauffman reports.

2. WTF is up with this "Stupid narrow-minded Californians" thing?
Prop 8 was bankrolled by rich out-of-staters and the mormon church. The stupid Californians of which you speak were faced with a deluge of advertising paid for by people who have no business in our business. Yeah, its true they shouldn't have fallen for it, but lets talk about how illegal and immoral such a thing is and not how "stupid" the Californians are for a change because Californians in general wouldn't have initiated such a thing.

Also you "Stupid narrow-minded Californians" people can just stop with the sweeping generalizations already. Believe it if you want(to be narrow minded yourself) but keep it under your hat.

5. Yes I wouldn't blame Cali as a collective that is very unwise when there were so many misleading ads

Folks definitely can blame the mormon organization that put it on the ballot. Also if folks want Barack to get a 2nd term we don't attack a state with 55 electoral votes.

3. Frame the issue as "Legal Partnership Status"
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 11:40 AM by newmac
or Pair Bonding Rights; ...just drop the "marriage" language; because right wingers are married to the word married. Just change the language to get your rights. Conservatives have an archetypal image of "marriage" in their heads; of a man in a suit with a hat; and a homemaker female. And as you know conservatives cannot deal with ambiguity nor complexity.

4. It's very powerful when big names show these props for what they are. Great work.

6. Those two are adoreable.....
I don't understand why their state decided to do this, it shows we still have a ways to go and shouldn't stand on our laurels with the election of Obama. When there is more in the Bible that is pro-slavery and pro-genocide than anti-gay, it befuddles me even more. But at least we have come far enough that this straight hetero guy can look at these two and think "damn they make a cute couple".

Baby steps...

7. LOL! Adorable? Not to Mormons, apparently. Now, if there were a plural number of husbands, maybe.
It is absurd. If you tell the truth about Mormons, you get called a bigot. It reminds me of what Truman said to the GOP. "If you quit lying about the democrats, I'll quit telling the truth about you republicans." Not the exact quote, but close enough. Yeppers. Often times the truth is too hard for those who could most benefit by acknowledging it. It is nothing more than cowardice and self-denial of obvious facts. What happens to gays who are born into Mormon families? I doubt if they are deemed adorable to say the tiniest least.
