3. The Laffer Curve
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 01:52 PM by AlbertCat
Is the bogus crap that brought us Trickle Down Economics. Why is anybody listening to Laffer?

Martin Gardner blew this Laffer crap out of the water with a parody of a scientific paper espousing the Neo-Laffer curve. Here's an explanation: (It's too funny really, not wonky, so check it out.)

On edit:

Going over the link above it occurs to me that Laffer and his curve suffer from a typical GOP syndrome...the everything is simple...black & white...the bottom line is this, period....kind of thinking. A willingness to ignore that things are complicated and many factors we are never directly aware of influence things dramatically. IOW....no flexibility in the GOP mind. It's always a disaster! Even the Tao teaches one should bend like a blade of grass in the wind, because a rigid stick will break, not bend.

6. Cheney and Rumsfeld
Although he does not claim to have invented this concept (Laffer, 2004), it was popularized with policy-makers following an afternoon meeting with Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld in which he reportedly sketched the curve on a napkin<[1> to illustrate his argument (Wanniski, 2005).

4. Who's laughing now?
Laffer's in the final stage of Republicanism dying

1. Gloat - When you're on top

2. Deny - When accused of wrong-doing

3. Accuse - The other side of any bad behavior you are doing

4. Laugh - When you've finally been exposed for the corrupt asshats that you are.

It's a laugh that says "Yeah, you got me. Ain't I clever though? Sure had ya going there for awhile didn't I he he he" Meanwhile the country is down the toilet from all those years of seriously unfunny destruction.

:puke:

5. You forgot one more:5) When caught with your pants down around your ankles for all the world to see
belch out "Well, they're ALL corrupt/to blame/everyone is just as bad!" and abruptly end the sentence there with a smug smile on your face and a belly laugh...
