1. those pharmacies should be forced to conspicuously display a sign
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 09:45 AM by SemperEadem
in their front windows and in the front entrance area of their pharmacy that they are part of the this pro-life bs; also, when being transferred to the pharmacy department when on the phone, they should be forced to play a recording before patching the call through that they are a pro-life bs pharmacy and that they do not fill prescriptions legally written by doctors for their female patient's access to birth control, day-after pills, condoms. These pharmacies are using subterfuge, lying and deceit to illegally practice medicine.

In fact, there should be a movement in each of the counties in which these pharmacies exist which puts a referendum on the ballot which makes it a crime to not state that they are pro-life pharmacies... so that these women can know where they can go to get their prescriptions filled--perhaps they should empower doctors to be able to fill the prescriptions at the doctor's office, thereby bypassing these pharmacies altogether.

3.  I think that this would be a great way to inform the community
about those pharmacies that descriminate against women.

4. Since they seemingly have no qualms about selling
high profit limp willie drugs, I think they need to have a sign in the window saying "MEN ONLY."

There are a dozen off label uses for birth control pills and these stupid religious nuts are not qualified to practice medicine.

They need to be driven out of business. Their professional licenses need to be pulled.

If you can't do your job due to morbid religious scruples, find another job!

2. What a well spoken young women. For those of us who don't
understand the morning after pill process, can someone more knowledgable explain please? Firstly, if a women thinks she might be pregnant, does she need it the next morning, as name implies, or is this a much less time sensitive adminstration?

6. From Wikipedia
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 11:20 AM by SemperEadem
Emergency contraception (EC), or emergency postcoital contraception, refers to contraceptive measures that, if taken after sex, may prevent pregnancy.

Forms of EC include:
Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs)--sometimes simply referred to as emergency contraceptives (ECs) or the "morning-after pill--are drugs that act both to prevent ovulation or fertilization and possibly post-fertilization implantation of a blastocyst (embryo). ECPs are distinct from medical abortion methods that act after implantation.{1}
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) usually used as a primary contraception method, but sometimes used as emergency contraception.

As its name implies, EC is intended for occasional use, when primary means of contraception fail. Since EC methods act before implantation, they are medically and legally considered forms of contraception. Some scientists believe that EC may possibly act after fertilization (see Mechanism of action). Some religious conservatives consider EC to be an abortifacient.

from Mayo Clinic site:
Morning-after pills aren't the same as mifepristone (Mifeprex), the so-called abortion pill. Emergency contraceptive pills such as Plan B prevent pregnancy. The abortion pill terminates an established pregnancy — one in which the fertilized egg has attached to the uterine wall and has already begun to develop.

that shows that their issue is control of women's bodies. EC prevents fertilization taking place by making the uterus/fallopian tubes inhospitable to sperm and preventing the ovaries from releasing eggs--therefore, no embryo/fetus exists if sperm/eggs aren't present, therefore it's not an abortifacient.

8. Here's the real crux of the matter: abortion, and those drugs are LEGAL.
If someone has a MORAL qualm, get another fucking JOB!!!

I work for a major airline in San Francisco, and during hunting seasons in Montana and Alaska, I check in many passengers with rifles and ammo. As a 33 year long vegetarian, I would NEVER think of refusing to DO MY FUCKING JOB because I disagreed with killing animals. How arrogant would I have to be to prostlytise and force my belief system on someone else???

And that's what really frosts me! If I or anyone else in any other field even attempted to refuse customer service on moral grounds, we'd be out of a job so fast we wouldn't even see it coming. Why the fuck do these "pharmacists" get validated for their attitude??? Why don't their bosses or the communities tell them that it's not acceptable for a BUSINESS to get up in someone's face???

Somehow, when it's about repressing women and this fake moral outrage over fetuses, all bets are off. Buncha fucking hypocrites!

Okay. Feel a bit better now.

9.  get another fucking JOB!!!
A-MEN!

These pharms are not sales-persons behind a cosmetic counter. They are medical professionals and so....if they don't want to DO THEIR JOB, they should get another one....at their church maybe.

Imagine a surgeon refusing... or lying that one is not needed....a transfusion because he converted and is now a Jehovah's Witness. Would he be allowed to practice?

13. Perhaps religious groups can live in their own communities, like the
Mormons and Pennsylvania Dutch, who wish to live a restricted lifestyle-- and the rest of the country can be left to live a modern life under the Constitution.
I wonder how else we can address the religious challenges we have in this country. I am concerned that if we do not deal with these extremists soon, they will make us deal with them later...
just my thoughts.
