McCain advisor Brian Jones tells MSNBC that the "Joe the Plumber" gimmick was "spontaneous," and that it "just happened."

Joe the Plumber is yet another gimmick gone wrong by the McCain campaign and is emblematic of McCain's erratic campaign.

1. But I don't want my political equivalents of fiery car crashes into bridge supports
to be spontaneous.

I want them to be planned and meticulous!

:D

2. Bullshit
Nothing in politics happens by accident. It was just a bad bad plan and poorly executed.

5. Yes
I think we are all essentially viewing this in the same way. It was not well thought out and poorly executed.

I guess in McCain speak, erratic, bad ideas are things that "just happen."

4. If McCain runs a campaign in such an erratic way...
the idea of a McCain-Palin administration is truly frightening!

Shoot first, ask questions later.

6. Par for the course
Personally, I have viewed this thing as spontaneous. I don't believe he was a "plant", but rather that they saw an opening with this thing and they took it, hoping it would work for them, and it almost did.

But like other moves they've made, you can tell it wasn't well thought out. I think that speaks for itself.

Thank goodness for the Internet and information age, and the thousands, if not millions of citizen journalists who can now investigate and uncover, and to the point now where the corporate media can't ignore it.

Just a decade ago this "Joe the Plumber" thing would have worked beautifully for them, since they could control and spin the message to their advantage.

Now, the rules of the game have changed, and I think that's a major reason that they're now losing.

They're still trying to use age-old tactics in a very different world.

9. VETTED
I agree he needs to be vetted BUT come on people by some on the left who say it wwas a plant you are just falling in to the GOP's prefect plan. To make you all look like nuts and unless there was proof and seriouly it would have been hard to plant someone don't you think? I mean it's pretty obvious he's (Joe) a Republican but NOT part of the plan the GOP is simply taking advantage of this.

And this guy on the video is clearly reaching for things. I mean YES its relivant when a guy CLAIMS to first off own the business or be buying it whne that is a lie like no one would check it out. He'd NOT licensed he makes an AVERAGE wage where its been pointed out he'd stand to GAIN from Obama's plans not lose but the GOP trying to get something going in a failed campaign and turn this on Obama. But PLEASE unless you can prove it lets try and nip this PALNT thing in the bud as it just reenforces the GOP talking points. The guy (Joe) is clearly an idiot that much is true and a liar but lets not give ccredence to consperacies. Lets stick tothe FACTs as we know them HE'S NOT licensed, He's NO
T the owner nor has he really tried (so far ) to guy it) he' DOESN'T make over 150k not even close THOSE should be the issues. Thats part of the risk in doing what Obama did going door to door there is NO WAY you can know or gauranttee who is Republican and who is Democrat and from all we've seen you have to be ready for a REpug dsditto head to end up at one of these doors.

Thanksfully the reporter called him on this point it was the MEDIA who searched out his records to get the FACTS NOT the Obama campaign BNUT of coarse as we've seen according to the GOP the media IS the Obama campaign right LOL? But as usual I've never seen a GOP ad that lets a little thing like the FACTSget in the way of a good smear.
