1. seeing this discussed on MSM is nothing short of astounding. this needs to be voted up by anyone
who, like me, came to DU after the election fraud that decided 2000 or 2004.

7. "Cluck-clucking" and "Tut-tutting" -- Rachel has it right!
That's what Dems do.

"The Dems aren't fighting"... that's right.

Here in colorado, the RW will be out after the homeless people who've registered.

Where are the Dems on this?

22. Ya, there's a mess going on in CO
with the repugs trying to get the Sec. of State to pull registrations and make sure they match up with the Motor Vehicle records as required by a previous law. The Sec. of State has responded that all policies have been followed and they can't legally pull registrations within 90 days of an election because of the confusion it can cause; plus early voting is already coming in which make things even worse.

The GOP is trying to create as much confusion...and deception right now with the election as they can to help the grumpy old man with the nutcase running mate get ahead with the final tally.

8. I find it truly amazing how many Dems don't believe or ignore the FACT- Republicans are stealing Dem
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 01:59 PM by LaPera
votes, (purging & many other ways) all over this country, DAILY! - And the republicans will continue stealing Dem votes with their easily hackable electronic voting machines that over 90% of the country will be voting with, on election day as well....

The republicans are hiding behind & using the usual Karl Rove tactic, blame the Dems (ACORN) say the Dems are trying to steal the election....a Rove smokescreen for something the republicans have planned and are doing, stealing everyday to the election.

FUCK! The republicans stole the last two elections....are we so content with a lead by Obama....The republicans are NOT just going to allow their fascist government (for the rich) be taken away, nor do these same republican racist allow a black person as their president, especially a Democrat....this they believe is only their blue-blood country....

The republicans will continue to throw Dems off voting rolls and are using so many other slimy tactics to make sure on that John McCain - Republican is announced the winner on November 4th or 5th.

And like Kerry (and Gore too) who had leads going into election day and where exit polls (which are NEVER wrong) proved that both had indeed won (and then OHIO)....Do we really want to wake up to this same bullshit....or don't we believe it?

Over-confident, believing Obama has a big enough lead don't worry about it....the republican slime is certainly doing something about it, wait until you see the bullshit the republicans will do on election day with their machines of course but so many other tactics...they are not resting....Will we be scratching our heads, AGAIN then screaming about it after the election, when it's too late?

The republicans are not going to lose the presidency.

Just check out Brad www.bradblog.com or many other liberal sites and see how real this really is!

10. Shouldn't happen
A couple of things, I have worked as a government data entry clerk and this matching thing is ridiculous. Our rules was that you entered what was on the form (even if you could reasonably figure out it was wrong. For example, the particular form I was familiar with asked for 'Family Name' , First Name and middle name in that order. This was one continuous field and many people filled it out wrong i.e first, middle, last. There were other forms where the names were seperate field plus accompanying checks that would have allowed us to determine the correct order of the names. Under the government rules we were not allowed to do this but had to, under some weird rules about the positioning of the names on the line, enter what was on the form. Now as for the rest of the information we did have 'quality assurance' people that would spot check our work in an attempt to limit input errors, but errors would obviously still make it at least through our part of the system. Therefore eliminating people from the voter rolls and thus interfering with their Constitutional rights by means of comparing forms that we have no reason to believe would be filled out exactly the same should not happen. Is there anywhere on any of these forms that states they will be used for comparison purposes and therefore must be filled out exactly the same?

11. Error: I've already recommended this thread. I was so PSYCHED last night to hear this
OUT LOUD well before the election and I was equally pleased to hear McCain sputtering on about how ACORN might just be ripping the fabric of our Democracy -- now ABC is reporting on how McCain's claims of voter fraud are bullshit well before the election.

The clearer it is to the people who might commit election fraud that we are watching very carefully and that we are good and ready to scream bloody murder on Nov 4th and 5th and 6th and 7th if we have to, the less likely it is that they will steal the election.

I am RELIEVED that the issues are out there in the corporate media.

17. We Could Still Lose This Thing
If we don't keep our eye on stopping this Republican voter suppression effort. Ohio isn't the only swing state where it is happening.

Yesterday the Denver Post reported that more than 6,000 voter registrations have been "delayed" in the critical swing state of Colorado because they provided their social security number for identification without checking a box which idicates that they don't have a driver's license that could be used for the same purpose. So despite having a valid way to prove their status, the Republican Secretary of State is returning their forms to them -- just 19 days before the election.

And how about our old friend Florida? There, Republican Secretary of State Kurt Browning is pushing enforcement of a "no match, no vote" law that could turn tens of thousands of voters away from the polls on Election Day- even if they can provide valid proof of eligibility when they show up at the polls.

Can you see a pattern here? Republican operatives around the country are setting up barriers to voting that could trigger a tsunami of problems on Election Day. We need to act now to draw attention to these problems and tell the bad actors to refrain from doing anything that would keep eligible voters from casting a ballot. I hope you will consider signing Progressive Future's "Hands Off Our Votes!" petition to let these folks know that we are watching them and we won't let them get away with it.
