2. That's 'make sure you put your coffee down' funny!
FDR; Donthca love it?
ER: It's a bit cruel, but, yes, rather amusing...

5. I was really surprised with Christiana's support for Palin.
She was always one of my most respected journalists.

8. I don't think it was support for -her- policies,
More along the lines of "giving the devil her due", along with a warning of "don't underestimate her".

She did, however, seem to be of the opinion that it was an important issue that -a- woman was running at all (what, Ferraro didn't count?), and seemed to feel that the fact that Palin is unqualified was unimportant in the larger scheme of things. Maybe she is correct, in that way. Despite Mondale choosing a female VP, there seemed to be no follow-through in the years afterwards. I think that for now on, we'll see more women in the race for both President and VP nominations.

9. Hey, she's a woman, isn't that great?
I agree, most disappointing, coming from a woman of true intelligence and achievement. Not all female role models are alike, Christiane, as if you need to be told that. :eyes:

10. If you look at why Palin was chose
it was because she IS a woman & how she and her beliefs would boost McCain and that stinks. There were many other women that were more qualified and seasoned to choose, but they chose her for a) her looks and b) her fundiness (which would make up for McCain) - any (religious) conservative who was unsure of voting McCain totally committed their vote after she was chosen (I know this because I have many of these types in my family).

As for Charro - that link to her playing her guitar is awesome. I forget that she played so well!

13. Same her - I have admired and applauded C.A. from the first time
I heard her. She blew it for me. If Maher always books someone a little or a lot conservative, then I have to rethink her. I hope it's not all about her paycheck. Someone just crashed for me. I can't tolerate CNN anymore so I'm not going to be able to give her another chance.

14. Hear, hear, I agree 100% with you. . .
. . .Christiane's attempt to turn Sarah Sow Ear into Sarah Silk Purse was more than disappointing, darn-right out-of-character for the "respected journalist!"

So, the question is, whom is Christiane dancing this jig for and for how much?

1--Maher asked for her to be the "female defending counterpoint" to agitate the show's discussion?

2--Christiane continues to support/take cues from Hillary since Christiane's husband, J Rubin, had been an insider of the Clinton coterie, so together these public women talk this female bonding support crap talk ultimately to set up Hillary for the next election.

3--CNN admin, through Christiane, wants to keep Palin a buzz to keep the public tuned into their barrage of Palin punditry.

Baldwin said it best. . .instead of encouraging relentlessly a focus on Palin like Christane is, the voters should concentrate on Obama v. McCain herein out.

I agree with you that this Christiane has dropped off my radar screen of principled, trustworthy journalists. . .BIG TIME.

Christiane Amanpour = Illusionary Journalist at a Price

12. And that is what bin Laden wanted
Osama did not want to defeat us militarily. He couldn't, but he could defeat us financially and we'd end up in an economic meltdown like the old Soviet Union found itself in.

16. Ironic that you should say that...
Johnny Carson used to say, "That's funny stuff!" quite a bit.

15. But Bill is wrong about why the dems keep losing elections.
It's not because we don't come out swinging. It's because the press is against us and repulslicans have stolen (blatantly) at least the last three elections. Kind of a pretty major point to be leaving out.

17. lies are easy to refute, myths not so...
i think the entire history of our times was set up as mythic in order to empower the liars- see Oswald killed JFK, the magic bullet.... Wasn't that remarkable 80's series on PBS about creating myths from news by Joseph Campbell all about this, and the danger? We are being defrauded, and the mythmakers are actors in the fraud...
