Sarah Palin states that she agrees with Dick Cheney on an expanded role of the VP. Joe Biden points out how that view is unconstitutional and dangerous.

2. I thought this was the single most telling moment of the debate.
Even more telling than her seeming inability to comprehend some of the questions. I don't have cable and haven't watched any pundits. Are any of them talking about this?

3. I agree
I'm not sure, not watching closely. I think Matthews asked a Republican if he agreed with Sarah on this and he said no.

This is a serious moment in the debate, I hope they cover it.

It is yet another piece of evidence that a McCain-Palin admin would be a Bush-Cheney third term.

7. she didnt know what she was saying
It sounded like she had no clue what Cheney had decided he 'deserved' as vp becuase a lot of what she said sounded like her general, vague fallback response. Ignorantly, she stepped in it, lol.

4. Sarah Palin is dangerous.
Judge refuses to halt Troopergate probe

By SEAN COCKERHAM
Published: October 2nd, 2008 05:56 PM

An Anchorage judge today refused to halt the Legislature's investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin and denied the state attorney general's attempt to throw out legislative subpoenas.

Maassen said he expected the other side to attempt a last-minute appeal to the state Supreme Court.

Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg said he didn't know whether he'd appeal or if he'll now advise the subpoenaed state officals to cooperate with the investigation. He said he needed to consult with them.

"I'm going to talk to the clients before I talk to you," he said.

Thomas Van Flein, the Anchorage attorney representing both Todd and Sarah Palin, watched the court hearing today. He said in an interview afterward that, if the judge refused to throw out the subpoenas, he would expect Todd Palin to testify after all.

"Short of appeal to the Alaska Supreme Court, which no one has talked about, I don't see why we wouldn't just have Todd testify," he said.

5. That was the most frightening moment of the debate
and the most telling. I hope that gets made into an ad.

6. Biden--another one out of the ballpark
Look at those lines soar! They absolutely love him - maybe because he makes sense. All he had to say was cheney is dangerous and shwwingggg-watch those lines shoot up!

11. I didn't think he would call them out on "unitary executie" when he
did I was pumped. When their ideology is that f'd up we need to scream about how f'd up it is. The VAST majority of people in the U.S. do NOT want this unitary executive crap. Dem's need to bring that up more.

10. Listening to it again, I think she didn't understand the question.
She was like a high school kid who thought she might fudge a book report on a book she didn't read by beginning ,"Our founding fathers..." And then she said, yes, she agrees with Cheney because he's the Republican VP and she figured odds are she ought to say, yup, I agree.

I'm not sure which is more frightening: Palin wanting to expand the powers of the VP or Palin not being able to understand a simple question on legislative vs. executive branch.

12. Way too much power
The idea that the VP is somehow a part of the legislative branch IS dangerous. Sarah Palin wants to 'tap into' that power. What this means is that the executive branch, via the office of the VP, would be able to exert a tremendous amount of power within what is supposed to be a separate and EQUAL branch of government.

Bush has already put people in the Justice Department who won't carry out their duties if a Republican is the one committing the crime. He's put conservative judges on benches who will side with their buddies. Now they want to put a VP into the Senate to exert their influence there as well.

Effectively, Bush and the Republican Party are attempting to form a monopoly on all three branches of the government. This undermines the entire purpose of the three branches, destroying all checks and balances. If that happens, then we'll have a dictatorship in effect if not in law.
