Milk is a 2008 biopic about the later life and assassination of San Francisco city supervisor/gay rights activist Harvey Milk (played by Sean Penn). The film is directed by Gus Van Sant.

2. you should rent "The Times of Harvey Milk". It's a documentary.

It's amazing! Lots of great archival footage. It won the Oscar for best documentary.

5. I'm tearing up just watching the trailer.

I was living in S.F. and was part of that community at that time. I'm still not completely over the loss of Harvey Milk and the travesty of the Twinkie defense.
